I’ve been enjoying my Salsa Cutthroat for about 4 months now, and hopefully many more to come. 5/5 ease of tubeless setup with the stock terravail 2.2” tires and the provided tubeless valves. I was able to seat it at home with a floor pump. Initially I was worried I should have ordered a 56, as the 54 felt a little to small. It came stock with a 350mm seat post (guide post) but I swapped it out with the 400mm guide with 18mm offset and it that really seemed to do the fit trick. Stock gearing is pretty good, although I’ll probably get a smaller chainring for riding loaded in the mountains. Overall the cutthroat remains a capable touring machine.
You can't go wrong if you want to bikepack, unless perhaps you choose the wrong size.
The queen of gravel. Amazing ride, great geometry, responsive, and the 2.2 tires give even a 200lbs+ rides plenty of room to adjust pressure for even a smoother ride depending on terrain. I thought that 1x11 would be limiting, yet still able to get up 10-12% grade. Going steeper? Take your mountain bike :-). Great bike for pure gravel or 50/50 pavement/dirt rides from the house with many more options than our road bikes gave us. Loving it, thanks Salsa and REI!
