Great bindings - when they stay together

These bindings are pretty great when you get them going. Putting them on the board isn’t super easy as the instructions included and online are trash. Once you get it all put together, it works great. While riding I’ve noticed that the high back angle switch moves and I often them horizontal (in skinning mode) when I go to unstrap. Fairly annoying but doesn’t happen every time. The main issue I have with these are the screws. They loosen all the time and the screws fall off. I’ve used the board about 10 times now and I’ve lost so many screws. The touring mode attachment came off in the middle of skinning up once because of a screw. Considering replacing mainly because that could be straight up dangerous in the backcountry.

Under-hyped Split Bindings

These are my first splitboard bindings, and after doing some research online, I felt like these were a good balance of affordability, performance, and (very important in 2021) availability. Personally, I was interested in the Karakoram system, and I think the active joining concept is the real deal. Pros: After a handful of days touring with them, including 2 in sleet/freezing rain, some wet snow, some dry fluffy snow, etc. I can say that the Karakoram system is way under-hyped and I honestly can't figure out why people don't rave about it more. Even when all my clothing had a sheet of ice all over it, I had no issues with snow/ice buildup, and transitions have always been super easy and fast - not to mention the fact that everything feels tight and solid with everything latched together. I wouldn't be surprised if the puck-based system feels as outdated in a couple of years as the pin system does now. Cons: There are some components that feel a little cheap on this binding (mostly the highback) but everything functions well and feels solid enough. I wish there was a stiffer option and a nice highback in this price range. Also, I feel like I will have to upgrade to the dual-speed risers, as the single riser is a little annoying at just one height, and I can't use my pole to engage it. Since the main competitors to this binding are probably the Spark Arc and Burton Hitchhiker/Nitro Vertical, which require the separate purchase of a puck system, and therefore come in closer to $460-$525, I would have gladly paid an extra $50-$75 or so for this binding with Karakoram's dual risers and a nicer highback. It would still be $200 cheaper than their next-cheapest option. Overall, these are great, and I am glad I ended up with the Karakoram system, even if there are some things I know I will want to change about them.

Affordable touring bindings, just don't lose bolts

These are an affordable binding for splitboard users. Honestly I'm not sure why there isn't a big hype about them. I've used these binds in the resort and in the back country and have hardly any complaints. I can't compare these to other split setups but I will always opt for my splitboard then my non split setup. I'd say these bindings are similar to the Now Pilots with the same skate feel and stiffness. I love how quick and easy they are to transfer to touring mode. They work well in every condition but hard pack sidehill. The plastic toe latch isn't stiff enough to deliver enough power when on compact side hills. But they still seem solid enough to last season long. I only gave these bindings a 4 star since the bolts will back off and need tightening. The toe latch can get gummy at times and make attaching in touring mode difficult. Only complaints I have but I love how solid the bindings lock onto the pucks. Makes downhill feel like a resort binding setup. I only noticed the weight when handing on the chairlift up. Other than that haven't noticed the weight/performance issues.
