Great features, but runs small!

I haven’t been able to try these out in snow yet (bought them for an upcoming trip), so this review is focused more on the fit. These run really small. I am normally a size 10 or 12 in pants (depending on brand and style/cut: I’ve got a classic hourglass figure, with a small waist and bigger hips). Since the size chart said a M was 8/10 and a L was 12/14, I went with the large, figuring it would be a more comfy fit. I couldn’t even get the large to button in the front and it was so tight in the thighs that I couldn’t move. Luckily I was able to exchange them for the XL, which fits way better. Also, the blue color is gorgeous. It’s a bit darker than in the photo, but I like it even more in person.

The BEST snow pants!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and gained a significant amount of weight between treatments and my thyroid not working effectively anymore. Since, I have found it to be a struggle to find a comfortable pair of snow pants for winter gear. I moved to Alaska in June and made it a mission to be more present in my outdoor adventures with my kiddos, and I wanted to have a truly enjoyable experience. These pants have given me just that. It's ironic that these are called the freedom pants, because I feel like I have the freedom of so much movement in these- and can spend my outside time in the snow, enjoyably. Thank you TNF for making such wonderful gear!

Not great sizing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For most ski pants you just have to size up. I find this brand to just be completely off in sizing. I am 5'3, size 10 bottoms, average build. A large fit in the legs but I couldn't get the waist fastened. An extra large fit in the waist but was way too big in the legs and too long. Besides the sizing being off, these seem like well made pants of good quality. They seem to be geared towards someone with an hour glass figure, not for someone who isn't tapered in at the waist. I wanted to love these pants but other brands fit better like regular pants. I see NF has complaints going way back in years about sizing being off. I too wish they would work this out.

Great shi pant

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this Pair of pants for Breckenridge Colorado every time I purchase a pair pants I find that they're too tight around my thighs and two big on the waist so I can be really difficult to find these fit fairly well although still a little bit big on my Waze, but I feel like they'll be perfect for skiing offered a little bit more of a relaxed feel so I have better movement. I had initially ordered the regular, but found out that I needed the short i'm about five /2 normally, I wear around a size 8 in my jeans I found that the size large worked best for me So I would say that they do run a little bit small but worth it

These are the best!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these ski pants for downhill skiing and I LOVE them! Great fit, warm, and has some nice features like velcro tabs on waistline, belt loops, front zip pockets and a cargo pocket. In the reviews a lot of people said they were too low ride, but I don't find that to be true at all. And thank you for carrying them in tall sizes. When I first started looking for tall sized snow pants there were only 2 other items that came up in the search bar. So I first ordered the Apex pants. They were too big (because I ordered a size up) but they weren't nearly as nice as the Freedom pant. So glad I finally stumbled upon them.

Probably really great pants but not a good fit.

I gave them 3 stars because they seem like well made ski pants and the wild ginger color is beautiful. It's a little lighter than the photo. More like a muted light red brick color. The pants run very small in the hips and waist. I would have to size up but the legs were so wide I didn't want to try a larger size. When I walked they made a loud brushing-scraping sound. I'm a bit bowl legged and normally my thighs never brush when I walk. I can understand the need for wide legs to go over other pants or long underwear but these were too wide and I wouldn't be able to tolerate the scraping sound with every step.

Love these! Make more colors so I can buy more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE this color! It is a beautiful berry color. It looks great with other jewel tone jackets and sweaters I have. So happy to see a gorgeous color like this. In terms of fit, it is a great length over boots, and they actually flatter your figure. No big bulky look at all. The vents on the inner thighs are great too. It lets you cool off when you need it after a strenuous stretch. I hated my previous pants. They were good in the cold morning, then got too hot mid day, and then we're good in the late afternoon/evening again. The vents make these all day comfortable. Great addition! Would highly recommend these.

Great pants BUT......

I'm very happy with many features of these pants. They are warm, dry, comfortable, and I love all the pockets. BUT, and this is a big but, with the side tip, and fixed straps, the only way to put the pants on and off is to pull the strap up over your head. Very inconvenient when you dash into the bathroom, only to have to take off your coat, helmet, and goggles too. I fixed the problem by adding buckles which unclip, but NorthFace should have thought of this in the first place. Everyone needs to use the bathroom at some point. Interestingly, the men's bibs have a centre zipper so don't have the same problem.
