They've Done Better....
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Columbia used to make a water short that was like a cargo short. It had the interior brief, but the shorts had secure pockets; one on each leg with velcro or a zipper. A zipper back pocket is useless. Who wants to sit on their keys? They were PERFECT for kayaking and other type activities where the possibility of losing your take-a-longs was a reality. Sadly, these shorts are not them; and hence the loss of a star. That said, there is a small zippered side pocket that your keys can go in; but what about knife, compass, etc.? Anyway, they're a good water short for those adventures. They're just not a great one....
Good in/out of water
Great everyday shorts to wear on hot summer days, in and out of the water. Dries fast when wet. Like the inner liner on these shorts but wish it was just a little bit silkier. I can wear these shorts all week and never have to wash underwear! :)
Plenty of room!
Comfortable. Great pocket action. Like the zipper and the hanging loops a lot. The picture of the shorts on REI's site does not correspond to someone of 5'6". These shorts run big, but the waist is right on.
The Best!
These are the best shorts I've found on-line. Accurate fit, good quality, comfortable, wear anywhere. Definitely a must for hiking, travel, and kicking around the house.

I like the design of these shorts with the external drawstring and zippered security pocket. The fit is true to size and the shorts have quickly become my favorite.
Love These Trunks
Fit perfectly (xxl) without blooming out and can sit with no pulling. Best feature: DEEP usable front pockets!
Faded quickly - had to replace
These swim shorts fit fine but the color washed out after a couple of months of use. We had to replace them.

My dad liked these but they faded so quickly (less than two months with weekly wear in pool).
