I'm a size 31 outside of Arcteryx. I ordered a 32 and 34, though, because I know they fit small. The 32 fit PERFECTLY without the belt hook on. As soon as it was attached, they were too tight. Unfortunately, leaving the hook off means it'll flap around and put too much stress on the button. I tried on the size 34 and WOW were they huge. There was absolutely no chance they's work without a whole lot of alterations. This is the second time I've found myself returning a product altogether, knowing I'll have to find something else of theirs, wish is a shame because I'm brand loyal. There is no reason they shouldn't have my very common waist size represented.
Hello Shayne, Thank you for reaching out to Arc'teryx with your feedback on the Sigma SL pant. That is disappointing our current sizing did not work for you. We appreciate your comments though as they will give our design team a better idea of how to best suit all our customer's needs. If you have any other comments or concerns, be sure to give our Customer Support Line a call. We'd be happy to chat. All the best.
I spend a lot of time in the field, traveling to a lot of different climates from the Denver Area. They are awesome in the High Desert and work just as well in Alaska where it tends to rain more. Spent a few days in Tennessee with a lot of rain, feels like liquid air conditioning. The only issue I had was in the airport, TSA tends to flag the front area for additional pat-down. Not every airport I have traveled to wearing them, but 2 out of 3 times now. I really like style, colors, and fit of these pants for summer moving around. Plus they pack light too.
Excellent pants, but have two little, and quite annoying, design flaws. First, the zippered right thigh pocket is located in front and not on the right side. Putting a small wallet and a smartphone inside makes it look big and awkward. I actually cannot carry anything in that pocket, for when I sit down it makes it look and feel quite stretched. Second, they are too tight under the knees, compared to the same size Gamma LT, for instance. This may not be comfortable for someone with big calf muscles. Despite these two cons, the fabric feels really light, soft, breathable, and excellent for warm weather. In fact, comparing to Lefroy, the fabric feels much better. I recommend these pants, if any of the cons above is not an issue.
These pants are the perfect pants for general hiking. I've worn them in all types of weather, and they come through just great. The fit is perfect for me, and I love the way the waist belt adjusts - from either side. Plenty of pockets, and the width at the bottom of the leg is not too much, which I love as it prevents any additional fabric from flapping around. I really recommend these pants. I'd rate them as a great 3-season pant, although you'd probably want something a bit thicker in very bad conditions.
A nice light weight softshell pant that works well for light alpine climbing, rock climbing, and mountain biking. Extremely breathable for the protection offered and easily becomes an everyday piece for multisport use in the Canadian rockies. For reference to the old phision FL pants, these are very similar in cut and design. The major differences are non zippered pockets which means no vents when you open them. I really wouldn't argue if you guys put a back pocket on these products though.
3.5 Stars. I paired these with the Sigma SL Anorak for a multipitch climbing kit, specifically for use in the American deserts. Fit and finish is great, and the adjustable waistband is both effective and low profile. Ankle ties are nice when the wind is ripping, but beware, the pants unroll themselves if you just roll up the legs, as I like to do when it is hot out. When climbing, the pants move well and never restrict high steps. However, the durability is, I found, a bit on the lower side. I rubbed a small hole in the front of these on day 1, climbing Fine Jade. However, the compromise if the light, breathable fabric, which is a huge plus. So, if you anticipate doing some major chimneying and rock abrasion, these might get ripped up. Overall, impressive pants, but I could do with some reinforced sections for durability.
I bought the trousers at the end of October 2019 for indoor climbing and used them about 8 times. They are really comfortable and stretchy, as described. However, they are already ripped on both sides between legs - along the stitches. The stitches have white tape, likely to increase their strength but not matching the stretchiness of the material. Rather expensive trousers ruined under months with people seeing my whites on the wall. Annoying.

The fit and feel of theses pants is awesome. Great stretch equals great movement when bouldering or sport climbing. They are listed as trim fit and this is true. If you have larger thighs, you will notice pants being snug but by no means uncomfortable or restricting. I have also bought a pair of gamma pants which feel very much the same but with a more relaxed fit. The wife says it looks like I’m wearing skinny pants with the sigma sl
Extremely satisfied with these pants. Many people asked about them and it's fun to tell them of the technical engineered features. I have a 36" waist and wear large with all other pants. The Arc'Teryx SL pant large was too small and the extra large was too big. I took them to my LA tailor who took in the seat and thigh while I waited, and presto they fit perfectly. I am very happy with them and will be buying another pair soon.
Great summer weight pants for everyday use. No need for sunscreen or bug spray. Great for bike rides as there's lots of stretch and your pant leg stays up away from the chainring with the cuff cinch. I’m a 34” waist and the large is a great fit. I rarely use back pockets so I don't miss them. I have a pair of the Kestros pants which are made out of the same material but like these slightly better for the built-in belt.
