Best I’ve worn in the field

My go-to choice for outdoor adventures. Whether it’s hiking, camping, or working long days in unpredictable weather, these pants deliver on every front. The fabric is tough yet flexible, offering great freedom of movement for climbing, trekking, or kneeling down without any restriction. They’re impressively weather-resistant — light rain just rolls off, and they dry fast when wet. The breathability is excellent too, keeping you comfortable even during high-output activities.

Great pants

Bought these pants for hiking and they have delivered this far. Used them for an overnight backcountry trip and they were very comfortable. I always used to buy Arc’teryx pants one size bigger because they were built for tall skinny people however, by doing so, I had to return the first pair because they were too big and the second pair I bought were actually the same size as I always buy. The material is very comfortable and seems bulletproof. I really enjoy that they are a bit longer and narrow at the bottom so I don’t have to wear gaiters and nothing sneaks inside my boots while on long hikes.

Poor quality - glued leg pocket coming apart.

Really disappointed with these pants. After a dozen or so washes the glued zipped leg pocket is coming apart. Why use glue in the first place instead of stitching? I am now going to have to pay to have these repaired/stitched locally. Another, thing these pants shrink even at a 30 degrees washing cycle and become too tight like skinny jeans. Please bring back the older version which was more comfortable and did not shrink in the was. Over the years, I have noticed that Arcteryx quality has been going downhill. Please focus on good quality outdoor wear instead of the chasing the casual market.

Excellent for Athletic Build - Fully Functional

Excellent! If you are an athletic build ( for example I'm 5'11'', 175 lb, 38-year-old man with a 32-inch waist and 32-inch inseam) these pants are excellent. I usually use them as stand-alone or with a RHO heavyweight baselayer under them in colder conditions and they are phenomenal. They provide enough flexibility while being functional and looking good. I highly recommend. I bought both the Tanto and Black pair. I did however try last years model as they were on sale and had to return them as the 32 inch waist was too tight. This years 32 inch waist fits perfectly.

They made them slim fit but call them regular fit

They made them a slim fit but still call them regular fit. So just change the label and folks won’t be confused. For me the fit is perfect - I have thin legs.

Terrible Build Quality

I bought these pants as I needed a new set of hiking pants. I wore them for a 6 day trip. Both cuffs began to rip through about midway through the hike. The hike was not in rugged terrain and I see no reason why the cuffs should have sustained this much damage. Spending this amount of money for pants that can’t even survive a week of use without sustaining damage is terrible value.

Hello there, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Gamma Pant. We’re truly sorry to hear that the cuffs began to rip after only a few days of use, especially in less rugged terrain—it’s understandable how disappointing that must feel given your investment. While our limited warranty covers manufacturing defects rather than damage considered normal wear and tear, we take feedback like yours seriously as it helps us evaluate durability in real-world conditions. We appreciate you letting us know and will share your comments with our product team as we continue to refine construction and materials to better meet the needs of our guests.

The best long inseam pants

I've been wearing Arcteryx gear for over 10 years and i love them. These Gamma pants are the most comfortable pants I have ever worn. They are my go-to pants. Firstly, it is nigh on impossible to find decent quality pants that are longer than 34 inch inseam as I'm 6ft 4 ins. The material is just right for all seasons , if there is a cold snap of 2 or 3 degrees C then I can wear the rho base layer comfortably underneath. I find they don't overheat in the summer either. There is a useful hem adjustment for muddy/ snow conditions. The design and shape makes them a good fit and waist size can be adjusted easily with the belt which has a useful clip and loop attachment. The clip has an hook-like end so that the belt cannot undo inadvertantly. Very thoughtful design. I find they wash well and I'm sure they will last for years to come. They are smart enough to wear at lunchtime in the pub and look good and function well on the Fell. I am currently using them hiking and scrambling and everyday use. I only wish Arcteryx made more pairs of other gamma pants and more colours in the tall 38 inch waist size.

COLOR

Best pair of pants I've ever owned. I've bought six pairs to date. My only complaint is lack of color options. BRING BACK GREY PLEASE!

WARNING - Materials not the same as previous years

WARNING - The "new" material (don't know when they cutover) is far less comfortable and doesn't have the balance of rugged, flexibility and ease of movement. The current model feels like a softshell pant... likely excelling in durability at the expense of what was my go-to hiking and trekking pant to a more climbing oriented use case. I have had the same pair of gamma pants for ~10yrs. I mailed them back to Arc'teryx expecting to have the same materials in the new model. Very disappointed in the switch. Wish there was a way to get my old pants back.

Hello Dave, thank you for sharing your experience with the Gamma Pant. We completely understand how frustrating it is to expect the same trusted fit and feel, only to receive something that doesn’t match your expectations, especially after relying on your previous pair for nearly a decade. The shift in materials can be a big adjustment, and we hear you. The current Gamma Pant has been updated with FC0 materials to help reduce environmental impact, and its design now leans more toward climbing performance, prioritizing durability and lightweight construction. That said, we know these changes aren’t always to everyone’s preference, especially if you valued the original balance of ruggedness, flexibility, and comfort for hiking and trekking. If you’d like help finding a pant that better matches the feel and function of your previous pair, we’d be happy to assist. Our team can help explore other options that might suit your needs more closely. Thanks again for your honest feedback, it’s incredibly valuable to us. https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/contact

Comically baggy fit

I have been a huge fan of my Gamma LT pants. I got them in 36 long a few years back. The fit on those is great: an athletic fit without a lot of stray material to sway around during runs. So I got a pair of the "revised" Gamma pants. Also in 36 long. I'm a bit at a loss for words to describe how bad the fit is. The butt is incredibly baggy. The legs are baggy as well, though a bit less extreme than the butt area. I threw them in the wash immediately, assuming the fit would be similar. So... I guess I just wasted a lot of money. A truly felt question for arcteryx: what do you propose that athletes buy, now, with these revised fits? I really want to give this 1 star on fit alone. But the material and construction are still good, so you earned back a star for that.

Hello there, thank you for sharing your detailed experience with the Gamma Pant. We’re glad to hear you’ve been a long‑time fan of the Gamma LT and that you continue to value the material and construction quality, though we’re truly sorry the revised fit didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how important an athletic, streamlined fit is for performance, and your feedback about the changes in the seat and leg cut is very valuable. We’ll make sure your comments are passed along to our product team as they continue to refine future iterations.
