Bought these pants for hiking and they have delivered this far. Used them for an overnight backcountry trip and they were very comfortable. I always used to buy Arc’teryx pants one size bigger because they were built for tall skinny people however, by doing so, I had to return the first pair because they were too big and the second pair I bought were actually the same size as I always buy. The material is very comfortable and seems bulletproof. I really enjoy that they are a bit longer and narrow at the bottom so I don’t have to wear gaiters and nothing sneaks inside my boots while on long hikes.
Really disappointed with these pants. After a dozen or so washes the glued zipped leg pocket is coming apart. Why use glue in the first place instead of stitching? I am now going to have to pay to have these repaired/stitched locally. Another, thing these pants shrink even at a 30 degrees washing cycle and become too tight like skinny jeans. Please bring back the older version which was more comfortable and did not shrink in the was. Over the years, I have noticed that Arcteryx quality has been going downhill. Please focus on good quality outdoor wear instead of the chasing the casual market.
Hi Gerard. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the Gamma Pant. We are sorry to hear about the leg pocket coming undone and that you are disappointed with the current version. Excellent! If you are an athletic build ( for example I'm 5'11'', 175 lb, 38-year-old man with a 32-inch waist and 32-inch inseam) these pants are excellent. I usually use them as stand-alone or with a RHO heavyweight baselayer under them in colder conditions and they are phenomenal. They provide enough flexibility while being functional and looking good. I highly recommend. I bought both the Tanto and Black pair. I did however try last years model as they were on sale and had to return them as the 32 inch waist was too tight. This years 32 inch waist fits perfectly.
They made them a slim fit but still call them regular fit. So just change the label and folks won’t be confused. For me the fit is perfect - I have thin legs.
I've been wearing Arcteryx gear for over 10 years and i love them. These Gamma pants are the most comfortable pants I have ever worn. They are my go-to pants. Firstly, it is nigh on impossible to find decent quality pants that are longer than 34 inch inseam as I'm 6ft 4 ins. The material is just right for all seasons , if there is a cold snap of 2 or 3 degrees C then I can wear the rho base layer comfortably underneath. I find they don't overheat in the summer either. There is a useful hem adjustment for muddy/ snow conditions. The design and shape makes them a good fit and waist size can be adjusted easily with the belt which has a useful clip and loop attachment. The clip has an hook-like end so that the belt cannot undo inadvertantly. Very thoughtful design. I find they wash well and I'm sure they will last for years to come. They are smart enough to wear at lunchtime in the pub and look good and function well on the Fell. I am currently using them hiking and scrambling and everyday use. I only wish Arcteryx made more pairs of other gamma pants and more colours in the tall 38 inch waist size.
Best pair of pants I've ever owned. I've bought six pairs to date. My only complaint is lack of color options. BRING BACK GREY PLEASE!
My first pair of non veilance arcteryx pants. Very comfortable. Integrated belt is useful, highly adjustable, and nice for travelling. Pockets all have zips for security, making this a great travel pant. No rear pockets encourages storage in the front, which is probably best for posture. Would definitely recommend getting the right inseam length as the grommet and cinch cord at the hem prevents length alterations. Overall very pleased with this pant and would consider getting another pair in a different colour.
Arc'teryx seems to be losing their way on sizing. You never know from one year to the next nowadays how a certain model will fit. It seems things are generally going wider, tops and bottoms. I guess they're going for a mainstream fashion market? The gamma pant is a disappointment in this regard. Previous models fit well. They also had a soft touch inner waist. I returned the most recent ones. Looked baggy and loose. The materials and finish seem to be good. So if they fit you right, you'll probably be happy.
Hi there. Thank you for your feedback on the Gamma Pant—we’re sorry to hear the fit didn’t meet your expectations compared to previous models. We understand how important consistent sizing and details like the inner waist are, and we appreciate you highlighting both what worked well and what felt different this time. Your comments will be shared with our product team as we continue to refine fit and design.
I wear these at the fire station, I’m an XO so there’s no interior firefighting anymore but we have lots of trails, rivers, waterfalls, and nature preserves. They look great, they’re extremely comfortable and the sizing is spot on. I take a flak for the subtle logo on the thigh but who cares. They transition from the office to the field quite well and without extraneous flaps and pockets. I’m sure the fabric will not fade, time will tell how long they’ll look this well.
