Purchased 2 two years apart.
Originally purchased the Thrive 10.8 in 2020 from REI as a package. We liked it so much that we purchased a 2nd this year (2022). The differences between the two boats are only color (2020-green) and (2022-blue). The main difference is what comes in the package. The 2020 board had a pump, leash, repair kit, caring case/backpack, 3 NRS straps and little dry bag for personal items. The new Thrive 10.8 comes with a different pump not sure if it is an upgrade, repair kit, and caring case/backpack. What the new kit doesn't include are NRS straps, little dry bag and leash. I was kind of disappointed that the kit no longer offered these items.
Great SUP
I am new to SUP and the Thrive 10.8 is my first SUP. I've bought it at REI and basically went on the trust in the NRS reputation. I am big fan of the NRS because of the quality of the products, thoughtful designs and lifetime warranty. Everything in this board say "high quality". Features I love: => One feature that I love in particular is the extra two handles on the top ( i.e. to the sides of the handle in the middle). It seems unique to this model. I am 59 years old ( in good shape for my age). These two handles makes climbing back on to the board that much easier. Also if you want to sit and relax on a the board in the middle of water - makes repositioning body easier. => The package in includes NRS pump and leash. => I love the carrying bag. I has mesh parts that allow any residual moisture to escape. Very thoughtful. => I love the fact that NRS did NOT includes a paddle in the package. This allowed me to buy what I want - the high quality Werner paddle ( instead of being charged and stuck with something I do not like) => I love the "all around" shape of the board and that it has 3 fins configurable combination. => The bungie cord in front for holding bags and item - very useful and well positioned => I like the soft and nonslip layer at the top. The board also has a "platform" at the back that allows for "step-back" turning. Not sure if I ever grow to this technique. => I liked that it has "overinflation" relieve valve. So you do not have to worry if pressure build up to more that 20PSI if the board left in the sun. => The only thing I wish would be improved it the NRS Super Pump that came with this package. I would like to carry it onboard, but it is too bulky for that. I wish it would have a removable top handle and folding foot rests - so it could be easier to carry onboard. I also think that SUP manufactures should put a big disclaimer that to use a manual pump you have to be young, athletic and love challenges. When I tried the manual pump I was exhausted ang though I will have a heart attack :-). I ended up buying OutdoorMaster Shark II electric pump - it takes about 20 min to inflate to 20 PSI and it made inflating a breeze. NRS rocks ! Thank you for a great SUP !
Excellent SUP for small rivers of the southwest
Nice and wide for beginners, short fin option for small rivers in the Southwest.
