I love these shoes, they are comfortable and fit me perfectly. However after less that one year they are literally falling apart. Such a poor quality for such a big brand.

I've owned numerous pairs of the Ultra Mid's since 2014, these are by far the worst yet. I've owned them since Feb, they got some use from late Feb - late Jun 2021 and then a bit of use recently, they've probably only had around 400-500km's in them with isn't a great deal of use. The materials on the upper on the toe box has worn through, the next layer has worn through and so has the GTX membrane, the tread on the soles has worn out in a few places. This is the 4th version, you'd have thought by now they'd be getting better each time they bring them out, not in this case - they're not fit for purpose! My old Ultra 3 mid GTX's have seen over 2 years of use and a couple of thousand km's, they are a bit tatty and I use them for gardening and they do let a bit of water in the toe area - but they haven't gone to the extent of the new 4's. I'm not impressed at all, I certainly would not recommend these to anyone. The only saving grace for these has been the fit, I had to go up to a 12 in the Ultra 3 mids, at least I could get in a UK 11 and the fit was great in the wide fitting, they were pretty light, not bad grip - but boots at this price should at least last way longer than this. I'm very unlikely to buy any further Ultra's in the future.

Basically these are a trainer made to look like a walking shoe, albeit a mid. Very comfortable and lightweight, I can easily walk miles in them on general terrain. I wouldn’t expect these to do anything technical as they basically a trainer in structure with ankle support. The downside is the sole outer was worn smooth just inside 12 months and most use has been fields, far too soft. And now the toe box outer has started to spilt open left to right, material failure on both. If it wasn’t for the comfort these would be a 0-1 star. Very comfortable just not built to last which isn’t good for the price you’re paying.

I got a pair of these and they helped me finish many day hikes, they did ok in both wet and dry conditions, and they feel much faster and more breathable than my other hiking boots, I would hope there was a bit more cushioning on the sole though. After using them for about 20 days, the durability is kind of letting me down, waterproofing is close to totally failing, dwr doesn’t totally worn out, the outer sole is also wearing out and loosing some small pieces which happened a bit sooner than I expected, and finally one of my shoelaces are some how close to breaking like it’s been cut half way through. Curious how I can get a replacement for the shoelaces since I have not found one on the website.

I just finished a 20-mile day hike yesterday, and these did great! I've only had them for a month and maybe put 5 miles on them to break them in, but that proved to be enough. No blisters! Toe box was a little too small at first, but that issue went away after a few days of wear. Haven't had a chance to test the Gore-Tex feature, but I know from prior experience to trust anything Gore-Tex. My only complaint is the black tab on the outside is fairly uncomfortable and hard against the outside middle part of my foot, and there is no way to mitigate this issue since it also serves as a loop for the laces. Would I buy these again? Eeehhhhh, probably not. I think there are better boots here, but I am happy with them.
Not Fit For Purpose Boot. Less than 200 miles of gentle hill walking and hiking. Split on both boots. Do not buy.

Being a runner and having used all sort of running shoes , I found my search land on this shoe. At first I was apprehensive about the harder sole compared to big cushion running shoes I am coming from but, the grorilla grip and comparatively lighter weight in its category of shoes, this one has easily become one of my favorite shoe to grab for not just hiking and dog walks but shopping and visiting friends too. One does feel big gravels under the shoe but the tactical look is unmatched with any other hiking boot. @ 45 days of rugged use , it’s looking like it will last atleast few years . I even tried running in these and didn’t feel extra weight of them. So I recommend this for both a new as well as an experienced hiker.
I love these boots. They come in wide width which I needed and they fit live a glove. I have only had them for a month and, so far, I haven’t had any problems. But, when I was changing out my laces for the lacey system I noticed a couple of areas on the shoe that look like they may be a point of failure later. It’s where the front part of the upper connects with the shoe’s collar. Sorry, I don’t know the anatomy of a shoe. The pictures I’ve attached show what I’m talking about. I’m not saying that these will fail here but time will tell. If/until then, I’ll enjoy wearing these.
They are water proof, true to size and looks great but comfortable as compare to speedcross 5. Not enough cushion, i like to take long walks but they aren't good enough. And I won't recommend for winters as well.
The absolute worst boots I have ever owned, I have had two pairs (one pair renewed on warranty) in 18 months. Both pairs have leaked due to crease/ fold points across the toe box area. Very poor quality and durability. I have only walked my dogs around the local fields and have no idea how anyone could take these boots up onto the hills as the outsole and mid sole has all the protection of paper, it’s as thin as that you can literally put your hand inside and push your finger in the insole and see bump on the outsole, there should at least be some kind of rock plate. I must say however that after raising the leakage issue with the first pair Salomon did exchange them after requesting photos, video evidence, proof of purchase, manufacturing details and establishing the country of manufacturing origin. So at least they made the effort. I wouldn’t recommend these particular boots to anymore as they are very poor all round in my opinion and at the price should be better. These boots are my first and last footwear purchase with Salomon, I do however wear the Salomon apparel.
