Heard a lot of positive things about Soloman. This being my first pair of their shoes I’m not understanding the hype. I wore them a few days on a camping trip to the Sierras with pretty minimal hiking. The laces rubbed a hole through one of the loops and the shoe overall feels pretty flimsy. It’s comfortable enough but I would not trust these to hold up on any multi-day trip. And after paying $100 I’d prefer that the lace hoops not fall apart after a couple miles.
I have been wanting to get a pair of these for years. I finally purchased a pair. The first trip out in them was on a 12 mile adventure race. They are comfortable and held up nicely. I did however slip and fall on some wet rocks twice traveling through a large mountain drainage. This is the first time I have an ever slipped and completely went down. I was hoping the contra grip would be better than the vibram. The vibram is a little sketchy on slick rocks as well. The is a paper crackley sound in the toe box when walking. I assume it is the goretex?? Either way it sounds a little cheap to me. They are comfortable and my feet felt fine after a 7 hour 12 mile adventure race so happy for that. Hopefully the will last me a good while.
I have a pair of five year old Salomon boots. The sole on the left boot is cracking and flaking. The sole on the right boot is wearing normally. Clearly, there is something wrong with the left boot sole. Neither REI or Salomon will do anything for me. They both said the boots are out of warranty. The boots have the Salomon Contragrip sole.
These boots are quite good. Previously owned the X ULTRA 3 GTX and these seemed like the most similar, more so than the now 5 or even 4. The comfort level is on par, time will tell on the durability. Other reviewers are complaining of noise, if that's a concern, sure. It's a hiking boot, not sure what they want. Can't make everyone happy.

These boots look great and are super comfortable. There is a weird popping/clicking noise when walking. Seems to come from the innards of the toe box from the materials bending when the toe box is flexed. Hopefully it goes away when they get worn in and doesn’t drive me crazy when on hikes.
Bought this shoes for my husband and he's been using it everywhere - in the city, in treks, bush walks, walks, etc. yet I have only received compliments. He said it's not hurting his feet. Would totally recommend this shoes to those outdoorsy ones.
I were all my boots for work in a security capacity. It says a lot about a shoe if you can where them for a 13.5 hour shift on your feet the entire time and not experience and Y foot or back pain. A true testament to the product.
I bought these for my postman's job all day comfort great grip good materials a good design only snag is they should vastly improve the lacing system not very good nut otherwise a good comfortable walking boot
I bought a 12 and typically wear and a snug 11.5 - they fit great. Have been using them for hiking around Iceland and they have been very weather resistant and durable!
