NO! Do not buy this light.

Sadly, I can’t endorse this light. I like the size, the style and the intensity of the light. The issue is the mount. Despite multiple attempts to get the light to remain seated properly in the mount, it continued to fall off. I feel it’s a design flaw rather than an anomaly.

Left me in the dark twice already

I hate to give a product a bad review but this light has gone into power savings mode on me twice since buying it: both times while it was darker outside than I'd prefer to be stuck with a low-powered light. Claimed battery life: Low - 11:00h at 200 Lumens Med - 4:30h at 450 Lumens I use my light in low-beam mode 99% of the time and I use it for short commutes these days. Six miles at a time. In other words, I use this light for 20-30 minutes at a time on low settings, and I charge my light regularly. So I was a bit frustrated when, 30 miles into a 2.5-hour, 50 mile ride, my headlight decided to hobble itself after using the low setting for just an hour, and the medium setting for just 15 or 20 minutes out in the boonies. The next hour of my ride was pretty dark. Sure I got home OK (thanks to riding on bike paths rather than over the road) but I'm not sure I would depend on this light for "defensive driving" at night.

Super Bright!

It does the job incredibly well. I used it to cycle the hills in El Portal, a village in the offskirts of Yosemite Valley. The nights are lit by the stars alone, so this was incredibly helpful in ensuring that I don’t hit any creatures at the time, such as rattlesnakes and cute little foxes. A word of caution though, make sure you take it off your bike every single time - my previous lights were stolen while I had my bike parked besides me in the post office! I’m not rich, but my safety is worth at least buying this again and being more responsible the next time around.

Have used this light for at least a dozen night rides now, and during day. Puts off a good amount of light and is pretty easy to use. But…I am not impressed with the mounting mechanism. Seems to not be of the greatest quality and concerns me about potential longevity. There is also a significant amount of rattling when the light is mounted in the bracket. Not noticing instability with it, just annoying for now and makes me wonder if there will be issues down the road.

Solid!

Dependable! 5 great modes, simple to use, loooong battery life. My 11 year old Lumina is still going strong, how is that even possible? Phone batteries don't last that many years. Some reviews complained about light coming off the mount. Niterider has been using this mount for 10+ years; if light comes off its user error. Try to yank off the light once you put it on the mount -- you'll immediately know if you didn't attach it fully. I do the same for *anything* I attach to my mountain bike -- bags, phone, taillight, bottles, etc -- life lesson.

Falls off too easily

So bummed. Don’t buy this! Fell off on a ride. A terrible design for attachment, the light itself is wonderful and charged well. I first bought one as part of a package with the rear light and the front light fell off. I thought it was my fault for attaching wrong or something, so bought another this one a after being tired of a battery operated one. And once again, it fell off less than a month after purchase. I see now all the reviews saying this, wish I’d heeded their advice. This needs a redesign and get a more secure attachment before putting this on the market again. If you do already own it, maybe try putting it on in reverse as it may actually stay but make it hard for removal. Just bummed as I’m out twice now due to poor design—truly this should never made it to market! If you do buy, super glue it in there or something!

Doesn’t securely attach to bike

Followed the instructions for putting it on my new bike this week. Survived the first ride but fell off today. Took a short 5 mile ride on a paved bike path and found it missing when I came home. Didn’t even realize it came off. Best guess is the vibrations triggered the detachment lever at the light’s rear. The mount itself was still on the bike. Won’t be buying a replacement since I can’t trust it to stay on the bike. Never had a chance to use it when it was fully dark outside. 2 stars because the beam seemed quite bright.

Great light

I'm surprised by the reviews saying the mount isn't secure- mine has been great. The handlebar mount screws tightly to the bar. I remove the light from the mount every night to charge and it clicks in securely in the morning. Overall very happy with the light.

Easy to loose.

Kept falling off. I lost it after the third time I accidently ejected the front light while getting off the bike. The light itself worked well and was very bright. 'Was' is the key word though :(

Never met claimed run time

The Lumina Micro 900 never met the claimed 2-hour run time on high. In fact, it barely averaged about 1 hour 40 minutes run time on high (900 lumens) after several tests. The Micro 900s that I have received as replacements from NiteRider also have not met the claimed 2-hour run time on high. This is disappointing since I've used NiteRider lights over the years going back to halogen bulbs and lead-acid batteries in the 90's. This light seems well-built although the handlebar mount is flimsy and the light shakes during rides. Disappointing and returned.
