Aside from the Arch Support complaint, the Shoe is not that bad. I made a full video under Merrell Trail Gove 6 review (2021) and shared details towards the shoe itself and what my thoughts were should you decide to see more visual content. Pros: +Shoe is really well put and the design/style is nice. its great for fitness or casual scenes. +The shoe has amazing grip on the ground even on wet surfaces +Lateral movements and plyometrics on these shoes work no problem +The shoe offers a Rock Plate to protect your sole from sharp objects. That's rad man. +Shoe is still flexible and light weight +Arch Support initially is there but over time decreases slightly and your foot gets use to it. Cons: -Arch support and shoe break in period is long and rough. I was a little sore after wearing these daily but after a week, i was feeling more free to move around as I normally do. -Glue used for this shoe is not that great. Bottom sole is coming off (toe area). -Glue in heel ring-lock area is coming undone -Wish they had black and dark grey (maybe) as the sole color vs. gum. Overall, the shoe aint that bad. I had some issues with this brand before for similar problems in the past but i feel that Merrell is doing their best to rise back up to the top. Will review the Vapor Glove 5 on my channel soon but for now I hope this review was helpful.
Picked these up from the Merrell outlet in Lancaster, PA. They currently have a buy one get the second pair half off. I’ve worn the Trail Glove 5 and Vapor Glove for years now and this shoe has continued to evolve. Next to the TG5, the TG6 has a more narrow tow box, a higher, stiffer arch, and more material in the sole. The sole also feels a lot stiffer than the previous model. All in all, still an excellent shoe with typical Merrell fit, finish, and quality. But…my opinion is that these are a minimalist shoe, not a barefoot shoe. I’ve been wearing Vibrams, and the TG6 and vapor for a long time, so if you want something truly minimal and barefoot, get the Vapor Glove. Still really like them, but I suspect the break in period will be a little longer than the TG5.

Out of the box I noticed rubber on both toe boxes not fully adhered but didn't think much of it. Now it's worse. I also kept tripping on something and realized the tread on the bottom is peeling. I owned previous edition of trail glove and toe box peeled the same way. Price & quality just doesn't match up. I've only done light occasional use since the purchase just over 30 days ago. Glad I haven't tried to tackle rough terrain yet because I don't think they would last- that and I would probably trip and destroy an ankle. I want these shoes in this color, I just want them to last more than a few months.

Like everyone said, it bears no resemblance to the earlier (better) Trail Glove versions: Large amount of unwanted, rigid support in the arch and a comically thick sole that interferes with natural and efficient movement. To cap it all off, the sole has, after 4 days, begun to unglue and separate. Goodbye, Merrell. It was a great 7 years.

Previously owned the TG4, and currently have the VG4. You do need to drop 1/2 size from those models to get the size equivalent in the TG6. I was optimistic that the arch support wasn't as high or painful as other reviewers mentioned or would wear down after a few miles. The discomfort did not improve, and my feet hurt until I was able to take the shoes off and walk barefoot, or put on my VG4s. Even with the higher stack height and 1 mm drop, I would have kept them but the arch support, make my foot feel like it was rocking over a fulcrum like a teeter totter. All I wanted was VGs with additional tread. Maybe the VG5s will fit the bill.
These are my first pair of Trail Gloves but I also have the Vapor Gloves and Moab. These are a nice blend of lightweight and supportive soles. Super comfortable. I wait them daily. They have more arch support and stability than the vapor gloves but are still flexible and comfortable.
I just got this to replace my favorite TG4. I picked size 9.5 instead of 10 as Merrell suggested. Compare to TG4, TG6 is much narrower at the toe. Hope break-in makes this softer and fits me better...but it may not last long.
I have been running and loving Trail Gloves starting with the 1st version ( still have them thanks to shoe goo). This Trail Glove 6 is way too narrow in the toe box v/s the great Trail Glove 4. As others have written (and I should have heeded that advice), I loosened the laces just about as far as they would go and still had difficulty getting my foot inside. These definitely do not run 1/2 size larger. There is no comparison to the best version, TG4s. What happened Merrell? Why did you abandon the last for this, what was my and many others' THE goto minimal, barefoot Trail shoe? Note, my TG4s had lasted for so long as I was running on softer Kentucky trails but now am on hard and rocky Southern California trails which is why I had high hopes for the outsole pattern to better deal with the sharp rocks that quickly ate away at the TG4 lugs. But since these do not fit even close to the prior models I must go to another brand that will provide the zero-drop, wide foot-box, and minimal barefoot feel I had enjoyed so much in the previous model versions. Also, ditch the Gum version of the outsole, it is too soft and wears way too fast on harder surfaces as opposed to just about any other outsole color. Again Merrell, Please revert to the model 4 version and I'll be back. I've attache photos of 3 of my 4 Trail gloves; originals, & 2 versions of the TG4
I wore the Merrell Trail Glove 3 for several years and it was my favorite running shoe ever, so once it became time to look for a replacement, it felt like a no-brainer to upgrade to the Trail Glove 6. However, I had to return it after just two runs because too many changes that I don't like have been made to the shoe. Specifically, it's no longer a barefoot shoe - there's more cushioning, it's much heavier, and there isn't zero heel-to-toe drop. Moreover, they added a rock plate, making the shoe much less flexible. This is more of a minimalist shoe now, rather than a barefoot shoe like it used to be.
Extremely disappointed in the shoes they should not be called barefoot. They are extremely narrow. They are not anything like the original trail gloves. I had a pair of trail glove 4 and they are way wider in the toolbox. I kept wondering why my feet hurt while wearing these and then I compared and realized that they are easily a half inch to 3/4 of an inch narrower in the toebox. I wish I could get my money back at this point. It’s a total loss as I will not be wearing these shoes because they are way too narrow and hurt. My feet would not have bought them if it wasn’t for the fact they were labeled as barefoot shoes.
