I'm 5'11, so I usually opt for the Large, got the Medium. The Salsa's run large, so if your ordering online opt accordingly. I got my first 27.5 at R.E.I. last year at a garage sale, it was the store brand in a large and it was tiny, so I had to add a longer neck and bigger front shock. This bike is everything I was looking for, air fork, 12 speed, dropper 27.5. I'm brutal on bikes, the 29' wheel's will fold on me. I've been riding for 40 years+ and have owned hundreds of bikes, this is my all time favorite and my local R.E.I. team of techs are spot on pros! Thanks guy's
I bought this bike about 9 months ago and haven't ridden it a whole lot yet. When I have though, it's always had some kind of issue. Mostly with the drive train. The derailer finally broke tonight. I was a little surprised to find the piece that holds the clutch is plastic. The long portion of the derailer, which holds the 2 idler wheels, was bent from a crash causing the chain to rub on the spokes on the last 2 low gears. I tried to bend it out slightly so I could use the gears to get back home...... that was a mistake, broke in 2 and had to walk it home. Also not as important but still was an issue for me, the finish scratches really easy. I'm talking dust on my finger causing scratches. I'm a little disappointed for the cost vs quality. I realize it's not the most expensive bike there is for sure, but still.....
I turned 60 and had really transitioned to greenway rides and gravel. But I was really missing single track and decided I had one more mountain bike in me. The bike is light considering the bike wheels and I am loving the 2.8” x 27.5 wheels. Very stable and it is like a tank in wet conditions. I am not doing anything too crazy, but when I hit some less developed trails, I have to admit the front shock is not great, but at this price point, it is acceptable. Loving my first dropper post.
I picked up this bike about 4 weeks ago. I love it. It is a great size, quick, nimble, and fun to ride. I live in Indiana and ride mainly on flat roads, paved and gravel. But I have experienced a bit of an issue when riding in the smallest two gears on the rear cassette. The chain slips frequently. I will take it back to the shop and see if there is anything they can do about it.
Great bike. The gears are smooth and the bike handles well. My last bike was a Giant Iguana from 20 years ago. I like the height and the bigger tires.
Ordered and quickly received my Rangefinder 27.5, took only 4 days. The crew at REI had it all put togther with a well done build. Then they help me make the basic minor adjustments such as seat position and correct shock pressure. Bike is exactly what I wanted, has quality components, and is a really nice looking bike. You have a gear for every situation. Although I have only ridden it a few times it will worked really well and will do as advertised to get me out there with all the necessary tech (definitily need the dropper post and it come stock on this model) to learn and be able to hit most all trails(note, this is not an aggressive down hill bike). It was a hoot on green and blue single tracks and the pump track I tried. I say get one and get out there!! It is fun!!!
