Cheaply made
I bought these sunglasses and loved them at first. Lens are top notch. But the frame is very cheaply made. The side wind protector broke off and I had to duct tape it on to work. Oakley said the warranty wouldn’t cover it but they offered me $20 off another pair. Not very nice, complete waste of $$. Don’t buy
Perfect for climbing/cycling.
I'm not sure what the reviewers did to their glasses. I climb, hike and cycle in mine, of course I handle them with care and I've had glasses for 40 years. I have yet to hear of an indestructible pair. That said I quit using the leash, as I bought the Oakley prescription lenses, and can't see if they were hung around my neck. I love them so much, I just ordered a pair of lenses that transition from 10% black to CAT3. These glasses are very light. The rubber on the nose keeps them up even when sweating. I wish my daily glasses had these qualities. I only have 1 con, they look very "Sporty" for hanging around town. My eyes feel calm behind the lenses and protected from the shields.
comfortable
These worked out very well for me. Kept the glare off the snow. Not bad for the price point.
Great Protection
I've owned these for three years and am very happy with them. Optics are beautiful. In bright sun and/or snow and over 13,000 feet I can see shadows and detail without problem. The frames are comfortable. Don't wear the side-shields while driving! (I did that ONCE.) Despite the poor reviews, mine are still as good as new. We demand a lot out of sunglasses and still want them to be feather-weight and ironclad. I'll admit, I am careful when opening or folding these glasses; you can't force them. If you take care of things, I highly recommend these. If you're a bull in a china shop, get something else.
Great Concept Poor Quality
I am so disappointed in the long term use of these. All the little "Shields" have broken or have lost the ability to cam themselves to the frames. They fall off constantly with normal use. I guess I'll stick with the old school mountaineering glasses. Vuarnet or Julbo.
All style no substance
No complaints about the Prizm lens but the framework holding them on one's face is a total disaster. As other reviewers correctly noted, all the little plastic pieces that snap in place simply don't work very well from the get go and are clearly prone to complete failure over time. In my case, one of them failed right out of the box. Little plastic retaining clips at the temple tip are supposed to secure a wire leash that goes around the back of the neck. One clip had already fallen off when I opened the box. I looped the wire leash over its little hook and re-attached the retaining clip, but it never felt completely secure. I went for a test ride at my local ski hill and the clip fell off. Without the clip, the hook can't secure the wire leash. Worse, without the clip in place the hook grabbed at my hair making it hard to remove the glasses. Even the side shields were problematic as they do not readily snap into place and were a source of growing frustration. I really wanted to like these because I've had success with some Oakley products in the past but these were a complete failure.
Love the glasses but,
I bought these Oakleys, and they’re really cool, However I bought them online, and after picking them up and opening them out of a beat up box the glasses had a few scratches on the lenses. I’m not sure if they were the last pair and sold me the display but it was really unfortunate, as they are really expensive. Another thing I notice is that it didn’t come with a cloth to clean the lenses, which is a first time after owning a few pair already. Sad.
Side Shields
The tab on the shield broke off on its own. Sent pictures to oakley for warranty. Warranty not covered!
Love these for mountaineering
Haven’t had any of the issues other reviews have mentioned. My pieces all work and haven’t broken in two seasons of use. I got a category 4 lens and love them. People always compliment me on them which never hurts :)
