I bought these for walking in snow and slush around the neighborhood and in cities like Vancouver, BC on vacation trips. I walk up to 2 miles at a shot, for a total of 5 to 8 miles a day. Shoe size ranges from 8 to 9, and I purchased size 9. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic I had to buy on-line without trying them on first. Pros: Excellent traction - the best snow boot sole I've ever owned Good looking for any occasion High coverage on legs Waterproof Roomy toe box Side zipper can save time and effort Cons: Left boot poorly sewn with crooked tongue and other visual flaws Side zipper not useful if boot is tightly tied (have to undo laces to get foot in or out) Difficult to tie tight enough for ankle stability Gave me terrible blister on left foot (might be related to poor construction) Lack of quality control Need to add a strap with buckle or other fastener at ankle to hold foot in place better Not warm enough for under 20 degrees F Overall an okay boot, but definitely not worth the full price I paid. I'll be returning these when COVID-19 safety allows me to travel to closest store (90 miles away). I think that Merrell has a good start to a great boot and I would love to help improve the model.

I have only worn these a few times and the seams are already coming apart. Biggest waste of money.

Just okay.

I’m waiting for snow to give them a fair shake to see the if they are waterproof and keep my feet comfortable. I really want to like them as I need a tall boot for winter for ankle support. The left boot rubs on my ankle bone, but a thick sock should help that. The zipper doesn’t really do much as I still have to tie and untie in order to get the boot on and off. I would have liked to have had more support in the ankle area for a hiking boot. There is a bulky feel to them even though there’s not much to them. I’m interested to see how the wool works with the snow.

Tall for snow.

I feel these would be best for the snow. They are a tall boot so just above half calf, although I am tall. They are actually super comfortable. They have a zipper and a tie front. I would not choose these for every day hiking but for snow or areas you would like extra coverage these are good. I also did not realy like that the ankle was so wide. When you tighten the calf to your size it slouches a bit in the ankle even with adjustments.

Perfect Snow Boot

After breaking my wrist slipping on ice, I went looking for a snow boot that had better traction on slippery surfaces. This one fit the bill with the Vibram Ice Grip sole. I needed a boot to wear in deep snow, so I wanted a higher boot like this. I absolutely love the zipper! It is easy on and off, but can be adjusted with the laces. I was able to snug it up on my skinny leg which was nice. Some have remarked that the ankle fit isn’t snug, but that means it doesn’t rub my bony ankles like most hiking boots do, and it gives the boot more flexibility. This makes the boot more comfortable than most hiking boots. It is very warm but the insulation isn’t super bulky which is nice. I am very pleased with these!

Excellent purchase, quality product

I love these boots very much! Since I got them, I've been walking on the beach 5 or so days a week, for about 3 miles. Due to the rubber bottoms, I can actually walk in the water in CT in February and not feel the cold! I don't go very deep--just a couple of inches, but still! I also love that they fit more like a good sneaker or good hiking boot than a snow boot, giving me the stability that I want and need. Previously I had been wearing snow boots and my feet would really hurt at the end of the day, where as now I have no pain at all. I'm so glad that I bought these and will surely be wearing them for years.

This boot is one to consider.

I tried on several other models of your brand of boots before finally finding these to replace my previous model of your boots that have been discontinued. I like them okay, the fit is good and I found that to get the best fit I had to unlace a few rows and zipped up the side zipper prior to re lacing the laces at the front. I wish that the boot was solid at the front and have elastic lacing instead. The boot is a bit heavier than my last one but the difference is because this boot has 2 times the insulation as the last model. The new boot has a chunkier sole to help the wear navigate through the ice and snow.

The sole is peeling off

The quality was not good as my old one. I like the style and waterproof feature. After the first use for hiking, the color was faded (it’s drizzling that day). I am ok with it because inside was still dry. I do the hike twice per week, in two months, the sole of the left shoe is peeling off.

Terrible Boots

Terrible boots. They are not rigid and the ankle part collapses while wearing. I returned these right away.
