Wonderful boots BUT the color
Wonderful boots BUT the color is definitely not charcoal, it has a very apparent green tint to them. Other than that they are super comfy, although it took several wears to get used to the pressure around my ankle (if you tie them snug). Definitely recommend, but you should change color name it forest or something to accurately portray them.
Great boot
I've been wearing Danner boots for years and have loved every pair. I've been waiting to get my hands on a pair of the Logger 917 GTX Charcoal for 2yrs. I was excited to see that REI had them in stock so I ordered them. They shipped quickly and I received them in 5 days. Upon opening the box I realized the color is WAY off! They're definitely not Charcoal, they're more of an Olive color. I tried them on, they fit absolutely perfect. I've always purchased a 9.5 in Danner boots & the 9.5 in the Logger fit perfect. They're extremely comfortable. Leather is nice & supple. You can dress them up or wear them casually. It's a great looking boot. My only complaint is that the color is not what is depicted. I refuse to pay for return shipping due to a manufacturing defect so I guess I'm stuck with them. I'll just either dye them myself or have an olive pair and buy another pair when Danner does a restock. If you're on the fence about buying this boot, buy it. They're worth it. You won't regret it, I promise.
This is the 3rd Pair
This is the 3rd Pair of 917’s that I have bought for my wife. She loves them. The first pair were for work boots on our farm. (See pictures below). Second pair were for Casual dress and this pair, she was going to use as work boots but doesn't seem to want to get them dirty. I got her old boots cleaned up and they just keeps on going. She has raved about her boots so much, I bought myself a pair. She was right.
Excellent Traveling Boots
I bought these for a trip through rainy Scotland. With some minimal break in, I wore these boots for 2 weeks straight. They were comfortable. My feet were warm and dry but never sweaty. The color has a green tint. They scuffed up pretty quickly but I didn’t mind. I replaced laces with slightly longer 72” waxed laces.
I own the same boot,
I own the same boot, just wanted a second pair for going out. Sadly, the charcoal is now a green/gray color, I returned them.
These babies are GREEN! Web
These babies are GREEN! Web people did a poor job on the photos on this one. I love the medium olive color. They do scuff and mark quickly but it's part of the patina and they recover decently with some shoe polish. The peachy laces are hella cute but not long-lasting, I'm already replacing them. The toe box is not exactly generous but it allows my big toes to lay straight, and I love the narrow shape of the boot overall. Sometimes I have trouble locking down boots on my low volume, compressible feet but these are easy to customize the fit. Soles have a little bit of comfy bounce and the grip is solid on wet concrete and trails alike.
Absolutely loved this boot with
Absolutely loved this boot with the exception of it not having much cushion around the cuff of the shoe so it was pretty rough breaking in. And only other I will say is that I was hoping this dark charcoal color would be close to black as it seems to be but it was more of a deep deep greenish brown color. Not sure if anyone else experienced this but it doesn’t resemble black as much as I was hoping to be able to wear it with a flight suit for work. BUT I will say other than those two things, these shoes are bomb.
Love At First Step
The moment I put these boots on I did not want to take them off. I found them to be incredibly comfortable from the time I put them on until I took them off 10 hours later. They do not seem to need a hard break-in like some other brands. I honestly don’t ever want to take them off I am so in love with them. I actually have wider feet and usually would need a wide shoe. I’ve found that these are accommodating to my wide feet without discomfort. They are also very aesthetically pleasing, I think they’re just gorgeous. I will be buying another pair of their boots in the next few months based on the quality and comfort of these boots. My feet are so happy and so am I!
I have a thing for boots.
I have a variety of boots I wear. The most comf I found were blundstones. Until these. These danners knocked every shoe/ boot in my closet outta the PARK. I have another pair of danners that I’ve worn less than a handful of times. Wasn’t a fan. Too chunky, heavy and uncomfortable. But these babies…. Wow. First of all, the color scheme had me. Black and pink laces!? Love. The vibrant sole is what got me next. They are breathable, comfortable(break in time was about two days) and just all around freaking awesome. Love how lightweight but tough they are too. I live on a ranch, so durability is key for me. The only “eh” thing I have to say is they look pretty worn now. Dull if I must say. Might try to shine them up a bit. Right on DANNER! You killed it.
My biggest complaint is that
My biggest complaint is that they are not black. The charcoal color is a greenish/brown. I needed them right away so I kept them but I was really looking for a black boot. They seem black in the picture and they are called Charcoal. Danner sent a black leather rub but they are not turning black. True to size and they are comfortable but they are heavy, much heavier than my other boots.
