Great British Engineering
Got my Brompton M6L (without rack) from REI.com and I'm so glad I got this bike which folds brilliantly into a very small and portable profile. Didn't think I would like the 6 speed configuration but it works well. I have explored more places in the few weeks that I've had it. Just need to get a water bottle holder for those longer rides.
Solid bike!
Expensive, but engineering and quality worth it. I've ridden bikes all my life - mountain, road and citibike-type rentals. No complaints with this bike whatsoever. Not a speed demon but pass rental bikes routinely. Sturdy, solid feel and ride. Easy to open/close. Haven't carried much yet but already ordered "easy wheels". I am 6'3" so got telescopic post - bike comes with standard length good for folks << 6foot. Also got Brooks B17 saddle (rei) and grips (elsewhere).
Brompton C Line is Excellent
This bike is fun, while also a transportation machine. The Brompton C Line Explore with H handlebars rides and feels like a well made, precision instrument. I also have. Dahon Mariner D8, and there is something quite different about the feel of the Brompton. It rides smooth and feels like ten speeds of the 70s. Maybe it is the hubs? It feels less stiff than the Dahon, and not nearly as twitchy as reviewers and YouTubers suggest. The 16 inch tires don't take any getting used to. It brakes well and the 6 speed gearing works well on hills. My only complaint is that as someone who is 6'1" I have had to order a different seat post - the standard post is about 2 inches too short, so be prepared if you haven't tested one first.
Fits perfect in the back of my Subaru Impreza!
I'm very happy with the Brompton I just got it on sale - so happy that I'm gonna buy a second one for friends to ride with me when I'm out and about. Because I can fit them both in the back of my SMALL hatchback.... why not? I'm changing out the rack wheels and adding the Switch electric kit - long wait on that - I don't even have a date for kit delivery, but hopefully it will be a great addition.
