Deep scratches and gouges when picked up at REI.

I picked up the Perception Outlaw kayak at the store about an hour and a half drive. No regrets on my purchase. My only concern was it had several deep scratches, knicks and a couple dents. Im guessing this all happened when it was shipped to REI. It wasnt worth driving back 1.5 hours then waiting 2 weeks to get another one then driving another 1.5 hours there and back hoping for a better result. When buying something new you expect it to look new. I got it out on the water as soon as i could due to making sure the damage didnt interfere with function. It held up fine. I know i shouldnt have to but ill probably end up ordering the same kind of plastic for it and fix it in about 6 spots. Im not talking little scratches. Im talking gouges and deep scratches. REI please do better on your quality control. You should have received it and sent it back instead of tarnishing Perceptions good name by selling it like that.

Kayak for a heavy load

This kayak is by far the best kayak I have been on. I only gave it 4 stars because there are cons about it. 1. It is very slow. It tracks well, but just slow. 2. It does not have water tight storage hatches. I will install some though. 3. There is only 1 seat height. I really wish it had a lower setting for the seat. Other than that, this thing rocks. Has lots of options for storage with dry bags tucked under the seat, front net or back net. Great spots to hold fishing rods. Can upgrade and design acc.... as you like. The weight limit of this thing is 425lbs and I love it. I am 290lbs and this thing hold me and my gear very well. keep my but dry unlike other sit on tops. Has a spot for a trolling motor. I love the fact that I can stand on this thing and feel safe. feels like a wide paddle board. I can store the seat away and have extra space to move around. The stability on this thing is quite amazing. Feels very tough. Must have some wheels for this bad boy if you are alone. Im a big strong fella and I still need help with it as its awkward to carry alone. Im excited to deck this bad boy out with gear, lights, and one day a trolling motor for those long days coming back against the current. I greatly recommend this kayak to anyone who is looking for something super stable, fun to fish in. feel super comfortable in their seat for hours on end. like to stand and stretch out. needs to carry a lot of gear and doesnt mind sitting high all the time. that is all.

Well thought out, superb customer support

I took delivery of this kayak and upon my first paddle, there was substantial amount of water in the hull. I contacted perception and they instructed me to prop up the boat and put water in it to locate the leak and send them photos. After doing this perception had a new boat at my doorstep within 2 weeks. Even with the world currently shut down! As for the boat, super comfy. The seat height is perfect for paddling and transitioning to!standing/sitting. The cubby holes are easily accessible flanking the seat. My wife was going to get a big box store kayak but after this experience, we will be getting another perception!

Awesome Fishing Yak For The Price!!!

Super stable and tracks extremely well. I like to fish standing up and The Outlaw allows me to do that without fear of flipping it over. The double barrel rod holders are at the right angle when I’m trolling. Very happy with this kayak...especially the price point. Would definitely recommend it to people.
