Love, but also disappointed.
So warm and light. REI shipped it fast the year of COVID. The quality in stitching was poor. Seams did not line up where they ran out of thread during stitching. Lots of loose threads. For the cost it should have been put in a seconds bin, but I still love the quality of down and the colors are really nice. Packs really small. REI was not accepting returns at the time I purchased it and told me to contact Rumpl about the quality. Rumpl told me to take it somewhere and get it re-stitched. Ha! Thanks Rumpl for standing behind your product.
love this blanket
I have had this blanket now for about 9 months and it has gotten me through the dark cold months of winter. The material is high quality ripstop and is also very soft. I have not really had a big issue with down coming out of the seams, there have only been a couple here and there. The warmth factor cannot be denied, it is highly insulative but is also a very light blanket. However, I've not tried out in really cold temperatures. But anything above 40 degrees Fahrenheit this should suffice just fine. It really is a high quality blanket, I was apprehensive paying that much for it but after 9 months of use I see that I got what I paid for.
Good for light use on not cold nights
This is a good blanket, to add a modest layer of warmth, but it won't keep you warm on a sub-50 night. It's too small to effectively wrap yourself up in and pull all the gaps closed, partly because it's light as a feather and slippery and so just doesn't stay put. It'd be much better for someone maybe 5'3" or shorter, I suppose. I'm 5-11 and thin. I'd probably not buy this again, because it doesn't quite do what I wanted, but I have used it a couple times on mild nights when sleeping in my Jeep, and it stuffs down pretty small, so I'm keeping it as a backup. Meantime, I bought a proper sleeping bag for the sub-50 nights.
Lightweight but with one flaw
This is a nice down blanket that does feel very warm, especially after I take a few minutes to fluff up the down in the individual baffles after they’ve been compressed. Compresses, but I’ve not been able to get it down to 7”x7”. And this blanket would be beautiful with its lovely spectrum of colors, but for one flaw: the down is not all light-colored, so the dark-colored down shows through as spots in the lighter oranges, yellows, and greens. Probably a bit of a petty complaint, but I got this Rumpl because it looked so beautiful online, but it was disappointing once I received it. It really takes away from the vibrancy of the fabric/design.
Outdoor companion
I’ve owned my rumple for about two years. At the time I paid $250 which was way overpriced so glad to see price has come down some. Cons of this blanket : it’s a “cuddle up” blanket only, at 5’7 my feet hang out if you try to use it laying down. When you hold it up to the light, you can see where they skimped on filling the down. It could def be plushier. Other than that, I have LOVED my rumple...it’s super light, compressible and has been with me on almost every camping and backpacking trip I’ve been on. It’s great to take to outdoor events too if it’s cooler. I love the Baja print and have gotten many compliments, but a lot of hate when they ask the price. Overall I do think the quality is good.
loose stitching and snags in the quilting
I was very excited to about this 2 person sized blanket. I have the similar REI Co-op version in the throw size and love it! The two bands have very similar fabric and warmth. The material of these blankets is unbeatable for many reasons. Pet hair, grass, and sand roll right off. Even water slips just bead off. I get so much use out of the throw size that I thought the larger 2 person size would be worth the investment. However, I was so disappointed to open up the package of mine new Rumple to find a handful of the quilted threads sections had snags and loose threads and areas where the stitching skipped and then re-tracked. For $300 the lack of quality control was shocking to me. I will try an exchange in hopes this was one bad lemon.
One-Person smaller than previous version
I bought a similar Beach Fade version of this Down Puffy Blanket 16 months ago which is noticeably wider & longer
So comfy!
I truly do love this blanket. It’s super warm and traps body heat like a BOSS! However I do have 2 complaints about the blanket that I received. First, the stitching doesn’t seem like it was the best and is even coming apart already in one spot. Second, the feathers keep escaping and I keep finding them everywhere. Mind you, some of this may be due to the bad stitching. I will be returning this blanket and exchanging it for a new one. Let’s hope I just got one that was defective. I really want to love this blanket! But I’m not going to pay the price for poor quality.
Travels with me everywhere!
I love this blanket! I have the 2 person blanket that goes almost everywhere I go. Most of the time I keep it in the trunk of my car as an emergency blanket since it packs down so small. When it isn't there, it is usually with me on my camping trips. During the warmer months in Ohio I just use this instead of a sleeping bag, and during the colder months it comes as a secondary top blanket, or have it thrown over my shoulders while walking around camp. I also put it in a stuff sack whenever I'm flying somewhere in case I get stuck in an airport or get cold on a plane. The price is a lot at first, but I have no regrets getting it. It is one of my favorite pieces of gear.
great for a blanket
if you are looking for a sleeping bag, stop and turn around. this doesnt flt that need. that being said, i hate sleeping bags: i feel so much better in this. i love how light it packs down. after stuffing into its sack, i can further compress it without using added straps or bags, to 8" tall by 6.5" diameter. perfect for my road bike bar bag, with room still for my down shirt and silk bag liner. paired with an insulated sleep pad, i keep warm without feeling restricted.
