Awesome saddle for hardtails
I had to replace an old WTB Pure (thick padding and steel rails) that was ripped due to a crash. I bought a SDG Duster which looked so nice on my hardtail MTB ("aggresive trail") and matched colors... but since it had a thin padding, after a couple of long rides (19 miles +) I was uncomfortable... Then I discovered that I had a bruise tatoo (you can guess where) with the shape of the saddle... So, I learn there that there are great saddles for full suspension bikes (thin to medium padding) like the SDG Duster or the WTB Silverado and great saddles (medium to thick padding) for hardtails like the WTB Rocket 2020 (thick gel padding / chromoly rails which I got from REI at an amazing price (Labor's day discount)... I'm so, so happy with my Rocket saddle, which by the way looks a lot more padded / bulky on the catalog pictures than in real life. Actually, it is much more thinner than my WTB Pure 2018. It looks so great on my hardtail and feels amazing. It is true that the little lift at the back of the saddle helps you to put more power into your pedals on steep / technical climbs. Great option saddle for hardtails. Remember that the WTB Rocket comes in 3 sizes/widths (narrow, medium and wide) and 3 rails options (steel, chromoly and titanium). Also padding materials are different depending on the rails version. I got the WTB Rocket medium (gel padding / chromoly rails) and I love it for long rides.

Not quite...
It works...but not quite comfortable for me. Something about the shape didn't seem to agree with my sit bones. Deciding to stick with my Brooks C17

Excellent Seat

I have tried many seats over the past 20+ years of mtn biking and this is my favorite one. The gel helps absorb vibrations and keeps me comfortable for longer rides. For shorter rides, I can ride without padded bike shorts and feel just fine- kind of nice sometimes to just hop on and ride without putting my bike garb on. The seat does need a break in period to get a little softer and fit the riders anatomy. I really like the gel padding more than the DNA padding. I have tried the DNA stuff multiple times and for me, it is just too miserable after several miles. Hence, not worth the weight savings and extra money. Since seats are so individual, for somebody else, it may be different. This seat has the right balance of comfort, cost and weight. The whale tail shape does actually help and the design of the seat allows for aggressive riding without snagging your baggies. As a NICA coach and somebody who goes in the backcountry by myself at times, I need reliable, comfortable and functional components. I highly recommend this seat and have it on 3 of my bikes.

Just like the WTB Volt Saddle ...but better!

The WTB Volt Saddle was always my favorite - comfy for long miles and plenty of options for moving around on even the longest rides - and multi-day rides too. But even though the WTB Rocket Saddle has a very similar shape, it ups the ante with more padding that achieves a comfort level that makes even the Volt pale in comparison. Highly recommended!

Nice saddle, just not for me

Saddles are personal preference item, so this rating is based on its nice construction and material. For me, there was too much pressure on my perineum. I also didn't like the upswept back which kind of locks you in place. Guess I move too much and prefer a flatter seat.

Traded the Rocket for the Volt

Everyone's rear end is different. I had a Vigo, but it was discontinued. I tried and Volt and it worked well for me, but I wanted to give the Rocket a try. It wasn't as comfortable for me, but REI made it easy to trade the Rocket for the Volt, and now everyone is happy.

Great cushion

More cushion than my oem saddle($800 hardtail) so my sit bones are happy! slim contour for legs doesn't cause discomfort there either. Smooth but not slippery. Love this saddle.

I’m back in the saddle

After riding a WTB Rocket for many years, I strayed due to availability on my new build. After several months of pain I am back to comfort and my WTB Rocket.

Perfect MTB Seat

Perfect- I am so picky. Most seats hurt, but not this one. Love it.
