Perfect sun hoodie

I used this sun hoodie yesterday in exactly the conditions for which I bought it; A spring day of snowshoe hiking in the mountain snow under full sun. 5,500 - 7,500 feet of elevation. Temps in the upper 50's to low 60's. Perfect conditions for a wicked sun burn if not properly protected. I wore no sun screen on my arms and have no signs of tanning or burning so the SPF rating seems accurate. I'm not really sure what results in different SPF ratings with fabric but maybe it's the tightness of the weave? There are a few things I can tell you about this hoodie that may justify the higher price. First of all the fabric feels really nice against your skin which can't be said for all synthetics. The fabric is also lightweight without feeling delicate as some reviewers commented about competitor products. I used the thumb loops all day which meant the fabric in my thumb joint was working against the grips of my trekking poles all day and there were no signs of wear. The other feature is the hood design. Most sun hoodies seem to use elastic to keep the hood gathered around your face but this one actually has a panel sewn around the facial area that tapers it towards your face. Elastic can wear out over time but you will not have that issue with this product. The fit is athletic. This meant I could wear a fleece over the top when the wind picked up without feeling bulky. The length is perfect. Long enough that you can tuck it in or leave it untucked and it will extend below you belt line. I wore my untucked. The look and the color are also very flattering which was a bonus. I might even wear it around town on long sleeve days. This hoodie would also be great for water activities such as paddle boarding. Overall no regrets spending the extra $$ on this hoodie.

Stitching is sloppy and material is failing. Has caught a few snags already too. I’ve worn it twice……incredibly low quality for an incredibly big price tag. Far from worth $95

Excellent fabric, but suspect stitching quality

Purchased this sun hoodie in April this year and have used it a handful of times on hikes. It breathes well, fits well, and the hoodie is excellent protection in full sun. So why only 3 stars? The stitching of the elastic wrist band has failed on a recent 14er trip, which is disappointing.

Super Light with Sun Protection

I live in the high desert where the sun can really fry you if you are exposed or if you're too covered up. I love this shirt because it's lightest thing I've ever worn, so soft, plus the mesh breathes like a charm. I like walking around with the hood up more than wearing a hat, I still get the same protection. I got the darker Navy color and have no problem, doesn't feel like it's getting too warm from the sun's rays. Another perk are the thumb holes on the long sleeves, making sure that even my hands are covered! It fits big, I'm usually a XXL but wear the XL without any issue.

Best sun hoodie on the market!

Probably my favorite and only sun hoodie I'd actually use. Was a bit skeptical paying such a high price for a "sun hoodoe" when I could get a Rei Sahara or Outdoor Research Hoodie for a fraction of the cost, but from just putting it on once and seeing how well made this thing is, it's truly much better than the others. Head and arms "cuff" with an elastic band ensuring a secure fit, I ran in this and didn't have a problem with the hood flying off like with most other hoodies; the neck area also has additional material acting much like a low laying neck gaiter would.

My everyday favorite

This is my favorite everyday light jacket for so many different reasons. First I love how light and effective it is as just a little something to keep the chill away. Secondly it dries so fast it blows my mind, no complaints from me on how quick it dried up when doing some sprinkler repair. It is very comfortable and has a very nice appealing look to it when worn. A cool feature on the women's version that my wife pointed out is the hole in the hood for a ponytail when running. Will definitely be buying another if this one ever wears out.

My Go to!

Huge fan of this! It's a go to for slightly warmer to hotter temperatures. It's comfortable and feels far more breathable and quality than alternative sun hoodies on the market (REI Sahara sun hoody) Also, the protection I get with it from the sun is amazing. The hood is more oversized so it's easy to wear over a helmet or to sorta pull to the side to provide extra protection from the sun -- even when you're just driving and there's bright sun coming from the side window. I own two and am dreaming of a third!

Comfortable, medium weight hoodie

Excellent quality, XL fits me perfectly, I am 6'0" 190 lbs. Super comfortable and perfect when a heavier weight hoodie might get too warm. Breathes well, I wear this trail hiking in cooler mornings in Arizona. I really like the hood, I pull it up over my cap to protect my neck from the sun, and unlike other, fruit flavored hoodies I have, it is roomie enough not to be constricting, and the geometry is perfect to stay up without blowing down. I wish it was available in black and some lighter colors.

Nice shirt but no UV protection

I bought this a few months ago and the quality is what I would expect from Fjallraven, but it has failed to protect me from the sun if I am outside all day in the sun. I am quite pale which is why I purchased this and if you're going to wear a sun hoodie, you'd expect some protection from UV rays at least. I like the shirt & I'll continue to wear it on days where I need minor sun protection, but I'll use a different product on when I will 100% need UV protection.
