Looks good, cheap parts
I bought this bike as a more comfortable commuter and errand bike hoping it would accommodate panniers front and rear better than my fixie, and while it can, there the honeymoon ended. The microSHIFT rear derailleur and shifters are chunky, slow and do not feel like they will withstand daily use. In addition, the derailleur cable protrudes further than most, preventing the rack I have from fitting properly. The rims use schrader tubes, making them weaker for the larger hole. The brakes are a positive; being hydro they have a nice feel to them. For the price, a nicer drivetrain and maybe a carbon fork are called for.
Great bike on a greenway!
A very light and fast hybrid that is a pleasure to ride. Bike works with you. Seat is comfortable for a stock seat. Handlebar felt a bit cramped so had the REI associate change out the handlebar to a wider one with a 1.5” rise. Gears shifted presicely. Not a bike for enthusiasts who want to hammer down hill as it has just a single front crank but if you’re looking for a quick nimble bike that will eat up a greenway this is it!!
Assembly Quality needs to improve
I am not sure if the bike was assembled correctly by the REI staff. On my first ride, the gear wouldn't shift properly (it slips from the second to the last gear to the last gear, although the shifter is already at last gear position). AND, the front break rubs. This is within 15 minutes of riding the new bike. I took it back to Boulder REI store, they told me all new bikes needs tweaking.... not sure I believe them. The mountain bike I bought from Costco didn't need any tweaking until 200+ miles riding. The shopping experience is disjointing.
Beautiful Bike, Easy Riding
This is a beautiful bike, smooth and easy riding. Love the disc breaks, which are an upgrade from my previous bike. Easy handling, rides like a dream. I bike for fitness, faster than a recreational biker but slower than a road biker. This is a perfect bike for that. It can be used on paved paths and gravel trails. Could be used for commuting as well.
Returned within weeks of purchase.
I got this bike to commute to work. I did some test rides and it was great at first. My rides were 3 miles, 5 miles, and 10 miles twice. On my first ride to work (10 miles each way, mostly flat), half way home I started to hear a click followed by a ping when pushing down on the right pedal. By the time I got home, it was in both pedals and I could feel it. I took it to REI to fix. They couldn't figure out what the issue was. They could hear a squeak; however, that's all they could find. They lubed all the parts in the crankshaft, the chain, and the pedal screws. When I left, everything was good. The next day, on the way to work, it started again within 3 miles. I ended up returning the bike and exchanging it for a different model. The fact that they had no clue what was causing the issue was very concerning to me.
Review after 2 days and 30+ miles
This bike doesn’t have a front derailleur, which can be good or bad, depending on your perspective. After doing my normal rides over the first two days of ownership, the lowest gear was fine for my typical hills, and I like the simplicity of the system (lower noise, less maintenance, no dropped chains, and no cross-chaining issues that cause certain gear combinations to be unusable). The 2020-2023 quick 4 has 1x9 - 9 gears - while the older model, which I also had before selling, was 3x9 - 27 gears. I also like the newer model’s hydraulic disc brakes, over the rim brakes. This particular bike is now discontinued, so as of May 2023, is on sale. The 35mm tires are a good compromise for speed and comfort, and the bike performed well on paved trails, including on the second day, which was in light rain. At 6’ 3.5”, I went with XL.
Great value, plenty of tech
Great value, plenty of tech. This bike is exactly what I need. plenty of gears in the back, dual hydraulic breaks, it's light, quick, feels snappy, and perfect for cruising around. I use for riding with my kids, could be used for commuting or light exercise. it's not a road bike, but I'd be fine taking this out for 20mi. The small frame only has space for one water bottle cage. Great bike.
Great looking bike!
Impressed with the quick 4, super smooth ride. This bike does great off road, trails and gravel, talk about confidence! It was super easy to assemble. And to top it off the name Cannondale and the simple clean looks sealed the deal for me!
Great value for solid setup
Well rounded bike at good value. Frame geometry is comfortable yet gives confidence at speed. Components are lower end, but get the job done. 1x9 drivetrain keeps things simple, but the bike is ready for front derailer (with internal cable routing). SP mount on stem was a nice feature overlooked initially. Already has bike sensor installed and Cannondale app links with Garmin, Strava, etc. All-around contender tgat does not break bank.
Cannondale
So m uch lighter than my last bike and yes it is quick
