Peace of mind!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the cable lock. Im so glad that i did. Just having that peace of mind that my investment is safe is a great feeling! Love both of my Yeti coolers!
Peace of Mind
I got the security cable lock & bracket mainly for peace of mind with my time spent working at a Christmas Tree Farm this winter. I hate to say this but in the past years we have had merchandise stole from the farm after hours and I was not about to let one of our losses be my beloved YETI as I left her outside by the tree bagger for quick drink excess on those busy days for about a month straight. Im glad to say she stayed put and is still in my position and Im looking forward to other uses for this AWESOME locking system.
STOPPED PUNK
My vehicle was recently broken into and I lost a lot of valuable things. I first noticed that my cooler in the back of my truck was sitting at an angle that I didn't leave it the night before. With the lock feature on the lid this has happened before from a person trying to get into my cooler. While my valuables inside my truck were stolen the Yeti 75 in the back of my truck bed was yanked on like crazy they didn't get inside my cooler due to a lock on the lid, they also didn't get away with my cooler because of the lock system that Yeti has designed into the body of the cooler... Thanks for a fantastic product.
Must Have
I recently got my husband a yeti 125 for his birthday, which he insists on riding it around in the bed of his truck! That made me nervous because I know people will steel a yeti in a heartbeat! Now I can rest a bit easy knowing his yeti is more secure with my purchase of 2 lock & cable systems one for each side, and also the fact that once you add ice & beer it's to heavy to just carry away. All in all worth the investment for piece of mind.
Don't Rely on These Locks
These are more of a deterrent than a secure locking system. I had two Yetis, both locked with this system, stolen from my truck. These are of course better than nothing, but do not rely on them solely. These have become such popular coolers that someone WILL try to steal them. Keep them out of sight is your best bet. These cables were easily snipped and it was only a matter of time before they were going to be stolen.
Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I won my yeti tundra 45 in a drawing, and I still am so excited! I had always wanted one just couldn't afford it. I have had this cooler for about a month now in this Oklahoma sun, and it still keeps the drinks cold. I refresh the ice about once a week and it's over 100 degrees outside. I keep this baby locked up in the bed of my truck!
Cut lock
I used this lock to keep my Yeti 65 in the bed of my truck. I’ve had it there for months and it’s been great, but someone came along and cut the lock and stole my cooler. It may prevent people from grabbing it out of the bed of the truck but it is definitely not theft proof. Police stated that there wasn’t much they could do.
Worked for a bit and then failed.
I had this lock for less than 6 months and it seemed to work okay. But on my most recent camping trip I realized that the cable would come out when it was in the locked position. Looking at the grip marks on the cable, it seemed that the "teeth" in the locking mechanism weren't biting/gripping the cable anymore. It is hard to say how long it had actually been like this since I hadn't really given it a good pull to test it out, but I ended up returning it. It would have been very unfortunate if I had found out the hard way that the lock could be easily removed. I feel like it would have been more secure with a regular bike lock that can go through the lid locking hole. I recommend that anyone who buys this lock regularly yank on the cable to make sure it is actually secure.
Secure your cooler and its contents
We travel to whitewater rivers with two Yeti's (65 & 125) sitting in the open on our raft trailer. The cable locks enable us to lock the coolers to the raft frame and also keep anyone from helping themselves to a cold beer or dinner while we're on the road! And in camp there's no risk of feeding the bears!
Not Perfect
I've had my Yeti 45 for about 8 years now, had this lock and bracket for just as long. Recentky had the 45 stolen from my truck, and the bracket was bent flat. Maybe it's the age, but I highly doubt that matters. When it comes to security of something this expensive, don't cheap out.
