Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

This fits snugly, not as loose as pictured on the model, but my body shape is different (apple shaped). Also, it's supposed to be a base layer, so I assume it should fit snugly, so I have marked true-to-size. That being said, I got hot on a hike and took off my jacket, and felt self-conscious because it was tighter than what I would normally wear as a standalone shirt. If you are looking for a looser fit to wear alone, I would size up. I did not find it particularly soft, but it wasn't itchy. It did well wicking sweat. The gray color does look like, well, underwear. Again, not sure I like how it looks as a standalone shirt.
I bought two of these tops to use as a base layer, but I wore one just as a regular top to hike 2.5 miles on a cool humid day with the temperatures in the mid-50's. Although I kept up a fast pace on my hike, I never felt sweaty and the top quickly wicked away any sweat while keeping me warm enough to not need a jacket. When I was done, the top didn't retain any odor. I'm very pleased with these tops and ordered two more in different colors. Thanks so much REI for offering technical clothing in women's plus sizes!
This review is based solely on sizing, not performance. I am a size 20-22/2X in everything I wear, and if not I usually need to size down to 1X, not up. I read the reviews that said that this top runs small and I got a 3X instead. I don't like my clothes to be tight, so if it fit like the it did on the model, I would have been happy. Even with going up a size to 3X, the top is tight on my stomach and hips and does NOT fit like the model. Since it's a base layer, I'm considering keeping it, but I would NOT want to wear this alone without something covering it. I'm disappointed in it. (If you are getting both the top and bottoms, know that the bottoms DO NOT need to be sized up, and run a little loose even in your normal size. I posted a review for those as well. Why REI would have the pants be big and the top be small I don't understand.)
The fabric is good, feels smooth and comfortable. But the size chart gives a VERY snug fit, not like the photo. Notice that the photo has a model with bust 38" and waist 32" wearing a size 2X. The size chart would put her in a Large. I didn't notice this till after receiving my normal size, 2X and wondering why it was so tight and bunching up on my waist and hips. I'll try the 3X.
really like the shirt. the plus size fits, sleeves aren’t tight, and has a good length. would like more color options, like the blue that is available in REI Co-op Active Pursuits Long-Sleeve Crew Shirt - Women's Plus Sizes.
Great option for a base layer. It was a gift and well received. Nice to see rei have some larger sizes available.
Very comfy, lightweight, and dries quickly! I wore this while whitewater kayaking and it kept me warm without overheating, provided excellent sun protection, and most importantly, dried quickly once out of the water! Also a good general shirt for other activities like hiking.
Really kept me warm without being tight. I felt it ran a bit big.
Wore this as my base layer on a chilly day on Mt Washington and was so happy with it. Sweat wicking as I backpacked in this shirt, a fleece and a rain jacket. I’ve never been more comfy. I can’t wait to wear it on my next adventure.
Great, light weight, runs a bit big. I bought the top/bottom combo in 3x (5'5" 280lbs) the length is great, it is comfortable and will do the job. I have worn them as base layer under fleece pants (beginning of winter in Northern Ontario, Canada). It was a good deal so I did not care about the color that was left in my size.
