Great backpack tarp
Excellent weight and size for backpacking. I used it at treeline. The wind required I add got lines and stake down the upwind side and it was surprisingly well. I bought the larger size to provide additional protection. Definitely recommended.
Light weight and perfect as a shelter
Recently used this tarp as a rain shelter for our bike camping group. Very pleased with it. While it rained on our evening, we fit 5 people under cover (in our Helinox chairs) and everyone stayed comfortable and dry. I also purchased the 6ft accessory poles from REI which worked very well. My only recommendation for other campers is that if you use poles taller than trekking poles (as we did) you will need longer guy lines at the poles. We were just barely able to reach the ground with the provided line. Not a big deal; will just go get some line a few feet longer for next time. The provided lines at the corners were fine.
Exceeded Expectations
Excellent tarp that exceeded expectations, especially with respect to ease of set-up enabled by the adjustable guy lines (no more taut line hitches).
Works great seems to be
Works great seems to be good quality and does the job as secondary fly for our ultralight tent or as a lightweight shelter.
It is not seam sealed.
It is not 100% waterproof as it is shipped. The main seam that runs right down the middle of the entire length of the tarp is not sealed. It needs to be sealed by the buyer after purchase. I found MSR's claim of the tarp being 100% waterproof deceptive and returned it upon discovering this flaw.
Lightweight Tarp Holds Up In Heavy Rain and Wind
Just used this tarp on a 4-day backpack trip that I knew there would be wind and rain. Easy set it up over my tent and it kept my tent dry and held very well in the strong winds. I like that it was also light weight.
Exceptional feather light.
Super lightweight and seam sealed; no leaks and solid in high winds at Cherokee National Forest on the Appalachian Trail. A+++. Looking forward to testing in winter conditions to add a wind break snowshoeing.
So far, so good!
I tried this out at home as a protective cover for my hammock. It worked well, and withstood strong winds easily. I look forward to putting it to the test out on the trail.
