I bought this bag because I am an avid outdoors girl and a photographer living in the PNW. Some of my favorite days to explore are the early mornings in the spring and fall. Here, when it rains, it RAINS. I needed something to keep my camera gear safe and dry both during rain and also during those stream crossings and near lakes and rivers (you never know when an accident will happen)…and the Panga has never let me down!! It is hands down, the best bag on the market. I load it up with no less than 20 pounds of gear and hiking essentials and it feels SO NICE on my small frame. The weight is distributed so well due to its shape and it keeps my expensive gear dry during those WA rainstorms. No matter where I adventure—rain, snow, waterfalls—I know the Panga has got my back. Thank you for a product that allows me to adventure to my hearts content. Yeti has nailed it with this product.
In over 30 years of fishing our Florida beaches, this is the most durable backpack I’ve owned! It’s waterproof, well designed, great capacity for carrying all my fishing gear, and I can carry my Yeti Ramber water bottles with it! It’s also very comfortable to carry with the padded straps and back.
I bought this for 3 trips this summer. Panama, Cancun and floating were our major concerns as we carry lots of gear that needs to be well protected. Our travels range from ocean, beach, airports, rain forests and many places that could damage our gear. Taking drones, GoPro, cameras, phones is always difficult. This trip was a breeze as we just packed it all up in my new Panga28 with no worries. This backpack is truly air/water tight. Keeping the zipper lubricated is a good thing to remember as it helps with the fast action opening and closing positions. I am a big Yeti fan and just bought the daytrip and hopper backflip. Did I mention that these are tough as nails and I put it through the test.
We absolutely love the quality of this backpack. Keeps all of our things dry. We’ve taken it on quite a few trips and are very pleased.
I have used this bag from frigid winter trout streams, paddle board sight fishing, and on skiffs in 90 degree weather. This holds everything you need to be successful on the water. Without a shadow of a doubt this bag was what sold me on Yeti as a whole.
Worth every penny! Tough as a rock.. I love them so much I bought both colors available.
I am a fishing guide in Tampa Bay and use my Panga for all my trips. All of my personal belongings are safe, waterproofed, and I'm hands-free to carry the rest of my gear to the boat. Recently we took a trip to Alaska and I unloaded all my fishing gear from my Panga and used it as my personal item on the plane. It stored perfectly under the seat and I loaded it to the max. I carried my backpack everywhere in Alaska. I set it down in the snow and never worried about our expensive camera getting wet and it was perfect to carry extra layers of clothes since we weren't sure what to expect throughout the days and nights. Once we returned home, I ordered two more, one for me and one for my wife. Definitely our new go-to travel bags. Perfect for any trip.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I missed iCast this year to go fishing in Cabo and I brought along my new Panga Backpack. When I returned it was no surprise to me that the Panga 28 Backpack won Best of Show for Fly Fishing Accessory. I will tell you this pack is not just for fly fishing. I will admit I was a little concerned after reading a couple reviews claiming there wasn't enough pockets or a place to add a water bottle on the outside of the pack. I use a backpack for everything not just fly fishing. I wanted a waterproof bag because I use it every day to carry my computer, lunch or whatever is needed for the day’s activities. And I wanted a pack that would hold up and protect its contents no matter the conditions and the Panga 28 does it and looks good while doing so. The inside is the same cool blue color as all their bags its bright and provides a great contrast to the contents. On the back there’s a pocket to hold your computer, when not carrying my computer I store items I need to find easily. Just slide your hand down the back of the pack and you’ve found them. On the inside front flap there is a convent mesh zippered pocket large enough to hole passports, keys, wallet and cell phone. The middle of the pack is large enough to hold a change of clothes, toiletries, power cords, snacks and still have room for more. On a plane it will fit in the overhead compartment with easy or under the seat in front of you. Once at your destination remove your travel items and add your fishing gear and you have the perfect pack for fishing the flats or a day out on the boat. And if you happen to go a little too deep, no worries its completely waterproof, your contents will be safe and dry. The outside of the pack has clean lines which prevents snagging on fly lines, boat hardware, brush or airport scanners. The large top handle will accommodate the largest of hands and is very comfortable. The two side handles or very convenient and offer an attachment loop at the top and bottom of each handle, very useful. There’re also attachment loops on the front of the pack and on each shoulder strap. The shoulder straps are wide padded and don’t dig in or slide down my arm like some backpacks do. The waterproof zipper adds a safety future, no one will be able to unzip the pack without you noticing it for that reason I like it a little tuff to open. You can also squeeze the air out of the pack, lock the zipper and your contents are vacuumed sealed in the pack making it smaller in size if needed or zip the pack closed full of air and your lunch is safe from being crushed even when using the pack as a pillow, this is from experience. I had no problems attaching a rambler to the side of the Panga Backpack, I also weaved shock cord through the attachment loops on the front of the pack which proved to be a quick and easy place to store a towel, jacket, bottled water etc. I was stopped numerous times in the airport, shopping downtown and walking around the marina. The question was the same, is that the new Yeti, can I see it, what does it look like inside and how do you like it. The answer it’s a Great pack. This pack is tough, functional and will be traveling and fishing with me around the world for many years.
This is a great piece of gear. I’m really impressed. I would recommend having two more quick grabs at top of bag to help close zipper. Zipper is amazing but no grab points as you zip it around the bag. No big deal it still zips easily. We will have thousands of dollars if gear including cell phones, drones, cameras, extra cloths and water/snacks. Trekking in the jungle and beaches ended something just like this bag. It’s totally air right to keep gear clean and dry. It also can be used as flotation if needed when swimming or going to boat and back. Just great gear and definitely 5 stars. Also with GoPro Adapter I can easily use it in shoulder strap. Perfect.
My backpack arrived with a tiny tear in the seam on the top. I asked my wife if I should be worried about the seemingly meaningless tear, and she agreed that the tear seemed so minute that the backpack was probably fine. Well, I took my backpack out on the boat today, put the backpack in the water to walk to a site, and air bubbles immediately started shooting out of the tear, allowing water to come in. This is my second backpack. The first I bought roughly 5 years ago (grey color), and it was amazing. I am going to blame the special color for this defect. Stick with their original products and avoid this backpack.
