YETI  Skala 32 L Pack - Men's

Took this pack on a camping trip out in Whistler and was very happy with the performance. The terrain I hiked in was very rocky and I never had any questions on the durability of the back. It’s super well belt and the suspension system is definitely the highlight. It carried a long day-hike worth of gear easily. The pack is on the heavier side because of the durability and suspension but it doesn’t feel heavy at all when carried. The tri-zip feature is definitely a love-it, hate-it thing and needs to fit your packing style. I tend to use lots of separate organizer/dry bags so this design fit very well. You can easily open the pack and get to any gear you have packed even on the bottom. Didn’t encounter any rain but the top side zips hang over where the center zip stops so rain won’t get in through that section when zipped. With the center zip design, you give up having a larger outer mesh pocket but they do have two outer mesh pockets which I stored poles and a rain cover in. Water bottle pockets were plenty deep and have retention straps to hold things securely. There is a nice top pocket to keep essentials accessible without opening the tri-zip. The other thing that may or may not fit your needs is the overall shape. It is taller and less deep which keeps the weight closer to your body but does limit how large an item you could fit. I don’t think a bear container could fit inside for example. Overall great pack with lots of features, pockets, and attachment points. Plenty of compression straps to keep things cinched up and secure. The highlight is definitely the durability and the opening design and the suspension.

Used the pack for a day hike along the Minnesota River valley. The pack is very comfortable and is made from high quality components. I really like the heavy duty zippers, as well as the rip-zip design. It allows you to easily access items in the bottom of the pack without having to dig down from the top opening. The "brain" held a decent amount of quick access items, and had a nice key clip. Overall a well thought out design. I removed 1 star due to the fitting instructions, which I think could have been more clear. They referred to using a seam to line up the yoke, but there are a few "seams". I ended up sizing by feel/comfort, so all worked out.

Very comfortable backpack. I’m a big guy 6 foot plus and heavy. The flexibility of the straps for my size or smaller is great. The pack sits nice on my back even with a heavy load. The zippers are strong and durable.. Yeti has another great product. I can use it for weekend trips or overnight hiking.

I had a Mystery Ranch Scree 32 and this is way more comfortable. It fits everything for a long day hike and room on the outside pockets for overflow. I hear people saying this bag is too heavy for its size. Sure there are bags lighter and heavier for the size. But when dialing in the fit, along with the plush straps, the pack floats and feels barely there.

Love this backpack build qualities is great. It’s light just what I need.
