Sole detached
Everything was fine until the sole detached from the shoe 13 months after purchase, just outside REI’s return policy or Keen’s warranty. Fortunately I got them at REI’s outlet; had I paid full price I would have been irate!
Enjoy every time
Keen Newports are my favorites because they are comfortable, washable and last a long time. I have 9.5 women’s size but need a little wider sandal & these do it for me - for work and every day walking around. These have cool colors too.
soles came unglued
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] sadly, the very first day i wore them on the river, the glue from BOTH soles come unglued and my shoes quickly became "flip-flops!" the good news, after submitting the claim, I was given full credit for the shoe, but now my size for the same shoe is out of stock! grrrr
Bunk Sandals
So I have bought both pairs of these sandals and loved them both until after four months they both crapped out in the same exact spot. Unfortunately they are passed the return date but I find it strange they would break at the same exact spot. Also I purchased the blue pair last year and when it broke I shrugged it off, then this year I bought the other pair and when the same thing happened I felt I needed to say something this time. They aren’t cheap and I have purchased many pairs of Keen shoes/boots over the years and expect a higher level of quality from the company.

Love the sandals; always wanted to try Keen. I especially like the generous footbed. After a month of wear, one of the bungees popped out of their plastic keeper. Called Keen since REI no longer had my size. They do not warrant laces. OK. They referred me to a video showing how to assemnle the plastic hardware. Quick job. Next day other sandal had same failure - seems to me they just were assembled with too little bungee cord in the keeper. anyway, this time I botched the re-assembly and after three tries had distorted the plastic. No big deal, I'll contact Keen. They do NOT have replacement hardware!? Seriously? So 5 stars for product; fractional share for bizarre, confounding customer support. I've had big box stores value me more as a customer.
Mfg failure issue! Probably . . .
This is my 6th pair of Keens that I have worn kayaking. Lobe my Keens. But!!! One star for this shoe because it fell apart last week on its first voyage! Must have been some sort of manufacturing, gluing issue that caused the sole to separate from the rest of the shoe. Almost did not make it through the week. Complete separation happened on the final day. Returned them!
manufacturer defect not refunded
These sandals typically last for years with normal wear and tear. Seen at the ankle completely let go on this pair after one summer of normal casual wear in California. REI would not offer even a partial refund. Will try Keen directly but seriously, REI, I have shopped at your stores for years and never had you fail to stand by a product so badly.
danger after 2 months
I wrote the great review in April 2024 but the base of both sandals came loose in June 2024. It flapped and looks like there is no glue that held it together. I returned the pair and explained the dangers of this when I walked and drove my car. It was not the heat either - this pair is defective.
Superb Sandals
These Keen sandals work well for me. Ordered online 1/2 size larger, glad I did they are comfortable with no break in and fit just right. Walking and on light trail hikes they stay in place. Also, the sturdy rubber toe really protects when bumping into rocks or walls!
