Suspect Quality- broken lace eyelet- twice!
I normally don’t write negative product reviews- but had no choose this time around. Very frustrated with the quality of these boots. I ordered a pair on 11/15 to be delivered to the REI store in Olympia. Upon bringing them home and trying them on, one of the eyelets on the left boot popped off. It really caught me off guard as I was simply adjusting the laces, but I figured it was just bad luck. Of course, I drove back to REI and returned them. The REI associate was very helpful and assisted me in ordering new pair of the same boots. I just got them tonight- 11/25- and as I tried them on, one of the eyelets broke again! You got to be kidding? This is not a joke- my second pair I ordered had the same defect. I have had the same pair of Scarpa Mountaineering Boots and Asolo hiking boots for over 6 years and never once had an issue with a boot lace eyelet. I will be returning them again- but buying a different brand of course. Buyer beware on these.
Fits size 14
I have a problem finding x-country ski boots, namely big feet. In the past I had a pair of Alpina's that were two tight for my size 14 feet. I could only wear a single pair of thin socks and consistently got heel blisters. Also the zipper on the on the outer cover blue out. I am very satisfied with these Fischer's. The size 48s fit with enough room to double up on socks. The external laces provide more flexibility to accommodate foot sizes (in contrast with boots that have a built in zippered gaiter), and the laces are more accessible for adjusting the tightness on the trail. I have done three ski trips thus far, two of about 5 miles and one of 13 miles. My feet were warm and comfortable throughout. No blisters, no hot spots at all. The sales staff described the factory insoles as "throw away" and I agree. I replaced them with a pair of Masterfit EZFit QF Snowsports Insoles which are far superior.
Great Fit - Poor Construction
We purchased two pairs of these boots for skiing Northern Michigan. They fit well, are comfortable and warm, and I am sure will break in beautifully with a bit of use. Unfortunately, during the second outing my pair lost an eyelet. I saw that this was a problem for a few other reviewers, so we returned both pairs to avoid the risk of this particular failure impacting another trip.
Nice boot poor construction
Really liked the design and they were very comfortable. But an eyelet popped off after just a couple trips. Seems to be a common problem for this product.
