Outstanding for the Whole Family

This jacket is outstanding - versatile, warm, & compact. I received one as a TNF Locals ambassador but liked it so much, I purchased thermoballs for my wife & son. My thermoball jacket has kept me comfortable during early am Rocky Mountain hikes, foggy redwood runs, and long, transatlantic flights. Plus, it looks great. I would highly recommend the jacket (especially the hoody) to anyone for looking midweight insulation. It can be used effecitvely in many conditions - including as an outer layer in chilly, damp weather or as a midlayer for cold weather. #tnflocals #ambsdr

Slim Fit Jacket

Bought this for my son and it was a really nice jacket but didn't seem to fit him as expected. I tried it on and it was way too tight! Much to my surprise it is a "slim fit" jacket. There is a tag identifying it as such. Unfortunately the website does not correctly identify the fact that these are slim fit jackets only. I called North Face to find this to be true. Unfortunately I do not want to order another hooded jacket for my son to find out it's a slim fit as well so I am returning and buying another brand elsewhere. Nevertheless, it really is a nice jacket otherwise. I would recommend the jacket but maybe order a size up if your body type dictates.

So Warm, So Light, Just Right

I finally got to wear my #thermoball that #tnflocals sent me a while back the past two weeks in Joshua Tree National Park. Never have I worn a jacket that has kept me so warm, but also not restricted my ability to climb hard boulder problems at all. On top of that, it looks great on me. It also zips up into its own pocket for minimal storage space usage. Most other jackets take up half the space in my pack, while the Thermoball hardly makes a dent in my storage space. All in all, I am beyond stoked on this amazing piece of gear and can't wait for future adventures with my Thermoball. I am also grateful to be an #ambsdr for The North Face so that I can have the amazing opportunity to try out amazing gear like this before it hits the shelves.

Excellent "tweener" Jacket

Only four stars because I haven't' owned it long enough to test quality and durability. I'm 5' 9" and weigh 165 lbs and the small fits fine. Had to return the medium because it was too big. That was the only strange thing with this jacket. I am medium with every other outer wear I have bought including The North face. I bought this jacket to wear as a tweener. My winter North face Jacket is too hot for casual activities like walking into work or hiking on a crisp fall day. This jacket is perfect for most activities. If it's real cold and your going to be out in the elements for awhile I would recommend a heavier North face jacket.

A believer!

I made this purchase at the end of winter/beginning of spring and have only worn it once as it hasn't been cold enough to need it. I can't wait until winter b/c I love this coat! I wasn't sure why these "puffer" coats got so popular and never thought to own one until I tried on my mother's. It fit like a glove, was featherweight, and most of all warm. That same day I ordered one for myself! My brother works for the forest service and spends a lot of time outdoors and swears by his. I will likely never go a fall/winter without one.

awesome jacket, delivered when promised

I bought this jacket for my fiance for Christmas. I originally ordered it from another website (he sent me the link), weeks before Christmas, but it never came, so I ordered the same jacket directly from The North Face. I knew wouldn't come in time for Christmas, but it was delivered within one week. The jacket is really nice looking, not overly puffy, so it's a slim look. My fiance is 6'2", and the torso and sleeves are a good length on him. The jacket and hood are plenty warm for the "cold" weather we have in Florida, where we live, and will also be nice to have when we travel to cooler places. The navy color is great, too!

quite nice

When I got my jacket I was a little skeptical about it. Very thin insulation throughout the whole thing. But two days later we got a good snow storm in southern Illinois, the test I was looking for. I just put on a waffle style shirt and my Thermoball Hoodie Jacket and removed the six inches of snow off of my driveway and two of my neighbors. I had to take the jacket off because I was to hot. Later that day I walked our dog for thirty minutes in below freezing temperature with out a chill. I would recommend this product to anyone. The bought an XL so I have room for baggy or layered clothing. Fits quite well and true to size.

GREAT jacket despite useless hood

Fantastic jacket due to strong mix of warmth, wind resistance, and light weight. I never get cold in this thing - add warm layer beneath and shell on top for skiing. My one gripe is that the hood seems sized for a helmet without a drawstring. I seldom wear a helmet when I need the hoodie since my ski helmet provides enough warmth on its own. So when I am using it casually or for climbing/hiking, the hood is almost useless. It blows off my head with just a moderate wind and provides suboptimal warmth since wind can enter the hood easily. Come on TNF, give this thing a hood drawstring and you have the perfect garment.

Love Thermoball

This is my second Thermoball Hoodie, having recently lost my original jacket. First thing I will say is my original Thermoball hoodie was a size small and fit like a glove; I had to move up to a medium for this version with the new slim fit cut. That said, the medium fits great, even if a little snug in the arms. The matte black looks much better to me in person; the photos don't do it justice. The addition of the interior zip pocket is a nice change over the original as well, and the blacked out logos are a nice touch too. I love how warm and packable this jacket is. I would definitely recommend the Thermoball Hoodie; it looks as good in the city as it does on an adventure.

Great Fit! Quality Buy!

Great fit for a growing teenager at 6'4. The arm length was generous and the length of the jacket was good also. My son loves the lightness of the jacket and while it looked to light; don't let looks deceive you! He says it's the warmest jacket he's ever owned! The idea of a hood was a great addition to keep out those windy and blustery walks around campus. Can't put a price on quality!! Hopefully he won't outgrow it too fast. The coat will probably outlast his arms if he grows anymore. And the design of jacket is by far very stylish from the ordinary packable down coats we've owned before. It's a keeper!!
