As a South Florida resident for the past 48 years, I don't find myself needing a heavy winter coat often. But this year, we were traveling to NY in early February, so my layered sweaters and sweatshirts were not going to cut it. I had an old (15 years,...) winter ski jacket, that must have weighed 20 pounds, not ideal for travel. I asked around and was told Northface is the way to go for a lightweight winter jacket, for extreme temps. I went online, looked at the various styles and colors, and went with the Terra Peak Hoodie. I could not believe how light it was, and could not understand how this could keep me warm. Well, I soon found out what a great purchase I had made. Temperatures were in the 20's with strong winds, and I was toasty as can be. The hood is perfect for keeping the wind out and I quickly realized that I did not need to wear various layers underneath, becasue the jacket kept me warm. Additionally, it is so light and compact for travel, I was able to stick it in my carry-on bag with no problem. We are going to Iceland later in the year, and I am ready!
This what I'm looking for, beautiful color good material and fit just comfortable on my body so so great on me, highly recommended
True to size, very comfortable, great jacket, wore it well at a hockey game in Maine.
Cannot believe I received this $200+ jacket with this low quality!
I've been using this puffy jacket as an insulator under my gortex shell. It is a very warm jacket, comfortable allows for mobility while skiing. I found that the fit is a bit loose which is ok for adding additional layers underneath if necessary but I think the jacket could be improved with one addition. That is a method to synch the bottom of the coat to keep cool air from coming up from underneath. Otherwise, this jacket is a 5 out of 5. I would still recommend it if you are looking for a solid insulator for cold weather.
I purchased the jacket version (no hood) at the end of last winter on sale and loved it so much that I decided to buy the hooded version on sale at the start of this winter. It is very soft, light, and warm. My only complaint is that the hoodie it adjustable, so without a helmet or hat, my head still gets a little cold. I'm not using this for hiking or outdoor adventures, so it would be nice to be able to adjust the hood and keep my head warmer. But, overall, it's a wonderful jacket!
This jacket is exactly what I needed for Colorado's winter. Keeps me very warm without any layering though with layering warmth will obviously be increased. I would totally recommend if you are into snow sports or like being toasty during winter. Being able to pack this jacket up is another plus for me so it's always convenient to either leave in the drawer when stowed or have it hung up on the coat rack. This is the jacket I will reach for when the temps drop around the 30s.
Just received this jacket, feels nice and warm. However, the quality is really lacking. There are insulation and loose fiber coming out of everywhere in this jacket. I just spent 15 minutes with a pair of scissors to cut off lose thread, insulation fiber and more. Still noticing a couple spots where stitching thread was missed. Yes, I got it on sale, still gotta say, this is pretty bad craftsmanship. Unsure how long this will last but fits well and warm.
