Good helmet, colors way off
This is a good basic mtb helmet. The straps have a simple setup with a fixed triangle at each ear and a single adjustment at the chin, which I like. The website doesn't show this. The other thing is the color rendition on the website is way off. The gray is virtually white (which I returned), and the "warm black" is actually gray (see images). The strap is a gray-green color which you don't know until you get the helmet. I actually think it looks great, but fyi.
Excellent Helmet
Pros: Sizing (One Size) very adjustable, MIPS and style. Cons: The Strapping (not generous enough for larger individuals, inconvenient to find extensions.
Really great buy, especially at discounted price!
I bought this helmet a few weeks back at the sale price ($50 or so), and it has served me well! No crashes yet, so I can't attest to the durability-upon-impact, but the fit is great with ample room for adjustments. The chin strap does adjust a few inches, and I keep it somewhere in the middle of that range. The best adjustment feature though is the knob on the back which allows the whole helmet to cinch around your head, allowing for a really secure fit -- super easy to adjust on the fly, if needed. Only (very slight) disappointment so far is that the printed logo on the sides of the helmet looks to be peeling off ever so slightly. I noticed this as soon as I pulled it out of the box. It doesn't seem to have come off any further since I first got it, and maybe I was just unlucky. Overall, really great bang for your buck. Good quality and great comfort so far.
Works great so far
Big fan of this helmet. I very much respect the importance of protecting your head so I wanted to make sure I invested in a solid helmet when I was getting into mountain biking. I haven’t head any major falls yet (knock on wood), but this helmet makes me feel safe should I take a nasty tumble. It’s super comfy and I love the look.
This helmet rules!
This is a major upgrade from my last helmet (which, to its credit, is no longer usable because it saved my brain when I was hit head on by a motorcycle). After that, I wanted something extremely visible, one size to accommodate different winter gear, MIPS, and more comfortable straps. This helmet is super comfortable and lightweight, and the color is AMAZING. It’s the most obnoxious lime green color I could possibly hope for. Contrary to some of the reviews, my helmet was just as pictured. The pads on the inside are honestly kind of luxurious. The adjustable wheel feels very secure so far. I’m looking forward to taking this bad boy on some longer rides. 10/10!
Helmet works!
Helmet is comfortable and it works! Just saved my life today. I’m pretty messed up but I’m alive thanks to this helmet
Cheap Straps
Returned to store after purchasing online. Good quality helmet. Lightweight. The straps were aweful! There was only 1 adjustment which is surprising since my last el-cheapo helmet had 8 different strap adjustments. Because it only had 1 adjustment, which was the strap under my chin, I could not get the straps off my ears and the buckle off of my throat. Very uncomfortable. I purchased a "Smith" helmet at REI for a few bucks more and it is a great helmet with all the adjustments that a helmet should have.
Too big for small heads
I ordered the matte frost color which looked like a pretty green in the pics but is actually a dull blue--not green at all. This seems to be a nice, functional helmet for larger heads. My head, however, measures the exact minimum size for this helmet and the helmet was huge on my head. Also, the straps are only adjustable under the chin and not at the V under the ears. The bottom of the V was below my chin. One size fits most--not!
Non-adjustable front straps, thumbs down.
Everything about this helmet is great, except the fact that the front straps are fixed, not adjustable. Fits my husband great, but on me, although I can tighten the headpiece, the strap akwardly sits too low and is uncomfortable- tightening won't bring it under my chin, just bites into my throat more. I'd need a good 1.5 cm taken out of the strap that goes in front of my ears to make it work. Unfortunately have to return it.
Best fitting helmet
I went to an REI store and had my mind set on the Fox Flux helmet. I tried both the Flux and the Giro Fixture on and the Fixture felt better by far. I was concerned with how it would look, too high, goofy looking. The Fixture did not disappoint. It is a very comfortable fit. No pressure points like the others. It fit my head perfect! I would definitely recommend this product.
