Giro Radix MIPS Bike Helmet
Built for the rugged adventurer who appreciates a perfect fit, the Giro Radix MIPS bike helmet keeps the sun out of your eyes and delivers plenty of ventilation.
- Lightweight, stable and comfortable, the highly adjustable Roc Loc 5 MIPS Fit System allows you to quickly and easily tune fit tension and fore/aft tilt using a single hand
- Rotational motion can cause brain injuries; with MIPS, a low-friction layer slides 10 to 15mm in all directions, reducing rotational motion to the brain during impact
- P.O.V. visor offers 15° of adjustment to help keep the sun out of your eyes without obstructing your vision
- In-mold construction fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with an impact-absorbing foam liner; fusion process allows for lighter helmets and better ventilation
- Wind Tunnel ventilation system combines active vents in the shell with internal exhaust channels that thrust fresh, cool air over and around your head and forcing hot air out
- Certification: CPSC, CE EN1078

Keeping what’s left upstairs intact
Fits great, very comfortable, and light. Wasn’t sure if I would like it since I had to buy online but was very impressed. Highly recommend
Did its job.
Took a big spill the other day - didnt even realize I'd hit my head until I got back to the car, took my helmet off, and saw the damage. The helmet is toast and my hand is broken but my head is unharmed. 5-stars.
Quality helmet I trust
You never expect to hit your head, but if/when you do you'll be glad you had this on. I know it works because I put it to the test when some rocks put a few dents in mine. Rang my bell a little, but I was completely fine. I didn't hesitate to purchase a replacement Giro Radix MIPS after smoking the first one. Sizing is true to size - I'm usually a Large and this fits perfect. Great value for the price
Great fit, cool vents
I've been mountain biking since the early 90's, and have owned a lot of bike helmets. Seemed about time to replace mine, and wanted to try a MIPS model. I saw an online review that said this helmet was well-vented, and it does seem to deliver in that respect. I was able to mount my older Cygolite Expilion light on it using the helmet mount kit, and also a "Take a look" helmet mirror on the visor with no issues (I ride roads sometimes on the way to the trails, and have some neck mobility issues from an old injury, hence the mirror). Fit is comfortable and adjustable. Side straps perfect as they were, no adjustment needed there. Seems to be a well thought out product.
Great for narrow faces!
My face is pretty narrow, but my head is relatively long front-to-back, and this is the first helmet I have owned in over 20 years of regular riding that feels comfortable and doesn’t look like a big balloon on top of my head. All my previous helmets would hurt and leave big indentations in my forehead while also being way too wide for me because they were more circular in shape. I genuinely thought bike helmets were just uncomfortable for everyone. This helmet must be closer to an oval, because it fits my head in every direction. No more pain, and I don’t dread putting my helmet on anymore. What a relief!
Replacement of a former Giro that was similar.
Fits well, the visor is about correct, and the color is visible on trails.
Comfy & Light
I wear Smith helmets for skiing so I tried a couple of those when it came to buying a half-shell MTB helmet. Although they met my expectation of quality, they did not fit my head well. Notably, I shave my head, and the MIPS "nubs" in Smith's helmets felt like they were raw, hard plastic just resting on my skull. It was painful to wear just casually let alone taking an impact. By contrast, the Giro Radix slipped right onto my head and the difference in fit / comfort was night and day. I was right in the range for MD and a MD fit perfectly with some room for adjustment in both directions. The helmet is extremely light and breezy and I forget it's on my head moments after it's on. Zero complaints with this one. Price is right too. Would buy another right away if I damaged this one.
Opted for this helmet over 2 others 3x it's cost
I ordered 3 helmets that had mips from rei as the local stores didn't have any of them in stock (and they were closed due to covid). This is the helmet I liked the best. All 3 were very similar in weight and I liked all 3 but I liked this one the best. The other 2 were inbetween $200-300, this one was under $100. I've now had it for 3+ months and couldn't be happier. It's light, fits well, and I forget its on. This is a great helmet at any cost and a great value for sure
Great helmet
In 2014, I tried a Giro and didn't like the fit... Bell seemed like the best fit for my ovalish 58cm head, so I've been using the 2014 Bell Stoker. Finally time to replace it, so I tried whatever REI had in stock... Bontrager (medium was ok), Smith (medium way too tight, large way too big). Decided to order this Giro Radix in medium to try out and I'm really glad I did. The fit is not only better than whatever model Giro I tried on in 2014, but even better than my Bell Stoker, which now seems like it fits poorly compared to the Radix. Fits my head perfectly, the ventilation is much better than my Bell Stoker, and it's lower profile on my head. I was ready to shell out $150-200 for something that fit amazing and the Radix surprised me at this price point. Only thing it doesn't have is a fancy magnetic buckle.
Great helmet to keep you safe
The last time i wore a helmet there was a Bush in office ;) My husband and our girls wear helmets on almost every ride. When i started joining them frequently on rides my husband bought me a helmet however i made sure it got lost in the move. Last year we started riding with my sisters family. As my brother in law is a neurologist and my sister is a nurse they are pretty serious about helmets. They casually asked where my helmet was on a ride but did not push the issue. This year they asked about taking a group ride tour of town in a few weeks and mentioned helmets were required. I was going to pass but instead decided it was time to get a helmet. I found the radix in red which matched my bike and ordered it in medium. When it came I slipped it on and was instantly impressed with how well it fit and felt. Not heavy but comfortable and secure. On the first ride it did not move about on my head or i interfere with my sun glasses. After 20 miles i was sold. I am looking forward to many more rides with this helmet
