This is a brand new tent and I've had it set up once with no rain/wind so I can only comment on ease of set up and design. As a 5'9" single mom, I was able to set it up easily and without instructions. The poles and sleeves are color coded (3 silver poles, 3 yellow poles and 1 short black pole for the vestibule). I was surprised at how flexible the poles are but it made set up possible on my own. There are plenty of guylines which I did not use but the tent seems like it would be great against wind. There are 3 doors. The fly has 1 large vestibule and two non-vestibule doors (see photos). There are plenty of pockets in this tent as well as ceiling loops for hanging items. There are three ceiling vents that zip open and roll up. There are 3 vents on the side walls that zip open but the panel stays in place (no rolling up). There are six corresponding vents on the fly you can open and prop open. And finally...a company designed a 6-person tent that fully zips closed for cold nights - yay! (no large mesh panels that permanently stay open). There are large windows on the 3 doors that you can open and zip closed. A+ on height...I can stand up fully with room above my head. I wish the fly would clip in at the base rather than having grommets that go around the poles. I also prefer a tent bag that zips closed. I'll use my old tent bag for storage that has a zipper. I'm looking forward to using this tent!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great Product - Great Geosedic Tent! It is by far the best tent for +4 people. The tent is so roomy, that you can accomodate two queen airbeds side to side (see pictures). I am 6", and I can stand in the mid section with no problems at all. All of this in a 4-season tent, amazing! I just tested the tent overnight (with my son, 10 yr old in the backyard) with -2°C (~28°F) with a couple of Northface Aleutian 20/-7 sleeping bags and no problem at all, just fun!! In order to ensure that this would be a lifetime purchase, I recommend to use a footprint (sadly, the original northface footprint is backordered in US, Canda and Southamerica, but you can use alternative ones). In summary: If you are looking for a lifetime purchase, high-quality, high-strenght, roomy and beautifully designed tent, the Northface Northstar 6 is the way to go, 100% reccommendable!!
Used this tent for two weeks in Utah hunting and it performed flawlessly. Sets up easy (color coded sleeves/poles)...there were two of us but after setting it up a couple times I'm sure I could do it alone. Had some major winds that did not even phase it and I did not even have all of the guy lines staked out. Also had rain with zero issues. The fly snugs nice and tight and plenty of space between it and the tent so know this tent could withstand some serious snow. Two cots, cook table/stove, two lawn chairs fit no problem. The large vestibule was perfect for two large coolers so did not have to get out in the elements to access them. Lots of storage pouches. So nice to be able to zip everything up at night to keep warm but unzip in the day for ventilation. Did a lot of research before spending this much but so glad I spent the extra money for this tent and the ground cloth. Hard to believe, but after spending two weeks in the tent I cannot come up with anything that I would change.
Great tent! I got a Bastion 4 last year for myself and a bunch of medical gear for an 8 night trip. Loved it. This year my wife and 3 year old daughter are coming with me, same trip, so needed more room. Set it up before going. Piece of cake. Very simple to follow color coded poles and sleeves. Fly easy to attach. Lots of room. Can't wait to set up in Mexico.
Wife wanted to be able to stand up in tent and to bring grandkids sometimes. I wanted a tent that would that would function about as well as a VE 25. Stayed dry in heavy rains and wind , probably could handle winter camping. Will try next winter.
The wife and I used this tent the past two weekends. We love in Alaska and love to go hiking. Once our hiking is complete we set up camp and put the tent up which is a breeze. We have more than enough room.
Camping on the weekends once in a while and this product gives everything I'd want from an easy to setup and easy to use larger tent.
Believe it or not I ride a Goldwing it works well with a couple friends at rallies. Foot print is perfectly made.
Plenty of mesh windows/doors to vent. Our own doors.
