This is the third pair of Merrells I've owned and by far the absolute best. Total comfort and protection from the elements. From botanical gardens to hikes on the shorelines of Hawaii, loves the boots.

I bought this shoe with the intention of doing long hikes like half dome, one of the things I appreciated about this shoe is that it didn't require a break in period. it was already pretty easy to walk in. The shoe has good grip and makes it easy to trek up pretty steep hills. The other nice thing about this shoe compared to a lot of the other ones I looked at was it was a little lighter than others i tried on.

Having owned 4 pairs of Merril hiking boots each size 11, (l actually wore out the sole of my last pair. )The Blaze 2, size 11, did not fit well and my toes hurt after a 12 mile hike. Order 1/2 size larger. The pull tags on the heel are set too low and offer no assistance putting on these hiking boots.
