Not what you'd expect
Shorts

I have a few pairs of older baggies with the white liner and these are not the same. Pretty disappointing. Comparing size medium for older and new shorts Inseam is the same, but the outseam is ~2" longer, resulting in shorts that actually feel baggy/loose instead of just having the name and being easy to move in. The elastic in the waist is significantly looser, again contributing to an "about to fall off" feeling, despite both pairs actually stretching to the same maximum width. At rest, the newer pair is ~2-2.5" wider than the older pairs. The drawstring is easily a foot longer, meaning if you have to cinch these wide and loose shorts down (you will) you'll be left with super long strings all over your junk. The mesh lining is a different color, but seems to have nearly the same properties in terms of stretch. The only difference is how wide it is to match the wider shorts. I'm not sure if sizing down could have made a difference, but people shouldn't have to size down when purchasing a new version of a classic product. Considering the different in length, I doubt it would do much. Old version fit well while providing excellent range of motion, new version is just loose. Hopefully this helps any white mesh baggies owners who are wanting to get another pair of these. Try sizing down, but no guarantees.

The perfect any-day, any-activity short

The shorts are great! I have worn them swimming, hiking, biking, hot tubbing, travelling, doing yard work, and just hanging around the house. The 5" inseam is definitely shorter than the average basketball short, but they are certainly not too revealing and make great thigh tans possible. The stitching is such that when you are sitting, they don't get too tight in the groin area. Also, the pockets are huge! I got them in black, and they can be worn with pretty much any shirt. They come with an internal netting making them perfect for swimming, running, etc., and it isn't too annoying when wearing normal underwear too. They dry quickly in the sun, and they are pretty resilient to odors as well. I am a 32" waist and 5'10", and the medium size fit perfectly. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

These shorts are so cute! I got the ones with the blue footed boobies they are perfect love them. The fit is great they are way softer then previous Patagonia shorts in this style I have tried. I did remove the swim liner but other than that fantastic for everyone!

My favorite pair of shorts

literally haven’t taken them off since quarantine. I have them in the 5 and the 7 inch. The 5 is absolutely they way to go. I also cut the liner out, if you’re going to do this make sure you don’t cut the back pocket off!!!

Great but not enough range of motion

For reference I'm 5'8 175lbs on the muscular side. I waited a while to pick these up because $55 is a little steep for my budget for a pair of casual shorts. When I got them though I couldn't wait to wear them! I wasn't sure if I should go with the 5 or 7 inseam, but I got the 5 and am happy I did. They're shorter than all my basketball shorts, and sit about 2 inches above the top of the knee. I'm not used to wearing shorts this short but they're not THAT high and the look is definitely growing on me. As far as comfort, I was hoping for a little more range of motion. They feel a little restrictive, and I don't think it's a size issue. For example, when trying to take a long stride, or spread my legs into a squat stance, I feel the shorts digging into my legs a bit. Definitely not painful but somewhat annoying. Maybe that's the case with all shorts this material? Prior to this I've only worn shorts with the jersey material. All in all I'm still happy with my purchase and excited to put these to use this summer, but they weren't the perfect short I was searching for.

Perfect versatile short

This short rocks for working outside, hiking, or as a bathing suit. Quality is very good; reminds me of retro shorts that were built to last from decades ago. They even have a nylon loop in the right pocket to clip keys. Pockets are large enough for a big phone and they are deep so that your big phone won’t fall out upon sitting down.

Not a lot of stretch

There was a lot of hype around these shorts, so when I found them on sale I was PSYCHED. However, when they arrived I put them on and discovered there wasn’t a lot of stretch in the thigh area. The shorts would ride up when I bent over or squat and although the material was durable and light, I ultimately decided that they need to be returned. Seems like a lot of folks like these, but they’re not for me.

Comfortable Durable Everyday Short!

The baggies are really versatile and comfortably cut for comfort. They have a baggy fit (go figure) and are not stretchy yet they are durable. Great for hiking, swimming, anything really. I have found that they are not great for yoga as the lack of stretch does not allow for some poses without fear of ripping the shorts.
