Love these bags!
These are great bags; large enough to hold enough chalk for many days of climbing, and the drawstring actually works. When open, there is plenty of space for your hands and you never feel like you're fighting to chalk up. When closed, very little chalk escapes. The tag on the side fits a small chalk brush (not included) and the easily adjustable waste-band has plastic clips. Great looking bags, too. My first was all black, and my second was an attractive mix of colors. Colors are randomized when ordered through REI.
Works but missed the reason I chose this brand
As many others did, I bought this chalk bag for the design. Every chalk bag works like a chalk bag, and this one is no different. It functions just fine. We chose our chalk bag because they match our personality. The fun colors and cool logo is why people like this particular chalk bag and there should be some level of consistency. I’m adding photos to show that while I expected multiple colors I got a solid purple chalk bag with no variety.
Top notch, all you need in a chalk bag
Can’t speak highly enough about Organic Climbing’s commitment to quality products and superb customer service. You know it’s a solid company when the owner is answering your emails. This bag is perfect size with 1000d Cordura nylon shell and a Polyester fleece liner and a little elastic tan to hold a brush. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES
Not as expected
They sent me a bag with the new boring logo, not the quirky colorful one seen in the preview photo (which is specifically what I wanted). Also, while I know the colors are randomized, I’ve only ever seen these bags in nice color assortments (dark purple, greens and blues, a few brighter colors). I had the misfortune of getting a downright ugly bag that was almost entirely neon orange with some black and white. Nice quality but I returned it because it was so different from what I expected.
Flawless
When I first got this chalk bag, I thought it was too big (I was planning to use it for lead climbing.) I was proven wrong the moment I put my harness on. This is a light, comfortable chalk bag with more than enough room (I use it with a Metolius chalk sock) for my chalk. The design is amazing (I got black, ice blue, and white with the logo that says organic three times), with a easy to use closing tool and soft lining. While the logo is relatively large, the font and colors work really well to it actually adds to the quality of the chalk bag. The bag, as they say on their website, is also made from scraps from their climbing mats, so it is an environmentally friendly option.
Great Chalk Bag
I love my Organic Climbing chalk bag. I may buy their Chalk Bucket soon but this has been a great purchase and I will buy more Organic Products in the near future.
Great bag. Wrong colors.
This was my first Organics chalk back and I was stoked to get it. Maybe I should have known this but when it says assorted colors does that mean it could be any any color combo? Anyways, thought I was ordering one that matched the picture but instead got a red, white, and blue one which is too patriotic for my taste. But I’m excited for when I get one in the right colors
Shining example of how Gear oughta be built!!!
I am a longtime Organic user and just love this bag, I Highly enjoyed the surprise of ordering an assorted item knowing that every Organic bag I have seen in the wild was unique and its own art piece. I will say if anyone is really hoping for a specific colorway either pick one up in REI store so you can choose your own adventure or you can customize on the Organic Climbing Website and they will cut and sew it to your specific colorwishes for a slight custom charge. With my order here on REI,com I was not let down when I received mine, Very intricate sewing work made use of their cutting scraps in Black and a nice Teal color mixed with a unique patterned fabric I had not previously seen, I love it and my friends are all super jealous. I also love the durable Para Cord Drawstring sure to last longer than the thinner ones prevalent on other bags on the market. Organic also stocks replacement parts for all their products on their site which is super sustainable, and really nice! So cool to see a company putting their heart and brains into making quality gear, here in the USA with Solar Power and recycled fabrics. This is now my go to present when I need to get a friend a gift I look no further than this bag!
The best for toughness, utility & big mitts!
Climbing since '95 and these are my favorite bags. Sometimes on alpine routes I bring a lighter bag if I'm really counting grams and not expecting to need much chalk, but when it matters this is my goto. Despite being a squat (or prehaps because of?) hobbit-like man, I have big man mitts, and if I am anywhere near my limit I can be found at the center of a massive plume of chalk, as I sweat like a middle school talking to their crush, a crush who while alluring, is potentially going to send me flying off in to the void wailing. I really appreciate that this bag, like good clothing, has structure. It stays open and I can get my whole hand in there, and it doesn't feel like I'm trying to help birth a cow or retrieve a foreign body that someone "fell on in the shower" (former ER nurse). Additionally, it's nearly indestructible, which is nice if you are some masochistic weirdo like me who occasionally finds them selves groveling up OWs or bushwhacking off of some God-forsaken rock in the late evening. Plus, Organic is the real deal, making great pads, and now bike stuff too. And, as it clearly states, the colors are random and made from scraps from their pads and other stuff, which means it might be solid, or colors that really clash, or that you don't care for. If this is a problem, go pick one out at the store, or if you get one you don't like, then utilize REI's very permissive return or exchange policy, or go to their website and design your own, rather then griping about it. :) Peace!
Unique Bag
These bags are awesome. It's pretty stiff but I like that. FYI, you get what you get in terms of color and design (materials are recycled). Great company though. Buy it.
