So dang close to meeting my needs!

This thing is so great and almost meets my needs. It’s an alpine bag but meets my needs. I wanted something a little more bullet proof to wet/icy conditions as I live in Alaska and there is often ice and snow on the ground in the spring and early summer. I carry my inhaler and small bottle of liquid chalk with me even when I indoor climb so I really was attracted to the east access zipper and mesh pockets it has. My only real issue is that when I am working on overhang sections of the route it doesn’t quite hang at my preferred angle, but I have plans to experiment with different styles of Caribiners and/or strap lengths. I love it still. I was going to take a star off because it might just be a design issue, but since I love it so much and don’t mind the minor inconvenience as I figure out it’s best configuration.

Great Bag w/ Pockets!

I initially was hesitant to purchase this bag due to the lack of reviews for it but I really wanted something with a bit of utility/storage and I'm so glad I took the leap because it's honestly a great bag. It features recycled materials, a very tight cinching drawstring system (one of the best I've seen) which guarantees no chalk spillage, a double clasping belt buckle system which prevents accidental opening (as well as one handed releasing which could be a con to some) and two separate pockets for adequate storage. The pockets are still not quite big enough to fully fit my giant phone inside of but I could see it fitting a smaller one. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase!

The best for what it is

I love this chalk bag. It's been my main outdoor climbing chalk bag ever since I got it, sport, multipitch, etc. In the outward-facing pocket, I can carry my phone, a small sunscreen, chapstick, Clif Bar, safety whistle, and car keys in it. Nice not have to thread my way all the way back to my crag pack just because my lips kill. The coated material can withstand the abuse of grinding it against rock, even if your contents cannot. My midsize smartphone also fits in the smaller pocket facing my body. Bravo! Perhaps that might increase cell phone survivability in chimney climbs? I usually just throw it in the big pocket, though, on a tether, so I can take lots of action shots of my pals. JK. Sorta.

Great Design, But Strap Loosens

I love this chalkbag - so many pockets and features! It's amazing how many snacks I can pack into the outside pocket, and the inside pocket always holds a little knife and lighter. Sunglasses in the stretchy side pocket, and a layer and/or hat secured to the bottom. Just remember, the more you pack in, the smaller the chalkbag opening becomes, but it's not too bad. I've been glad to have the double-closure buckle a few times, usually when I go to unclip the hip strap on my backpack on a climb... oops wrong buckle, whew. The one downside is the fact that the webbing strap is slippery enough to loosen while climbing. I will be replacing it with an adjustable loop of 6mm cord (probably a good idea anyway, for security and emergency purposes), which renders the safety buckle useless. If this strap material was changed to fix this issue, it would get 5 stars from me.

Great chalk bag for multipitch!

This chalk bag can replace your backpack on multipitch if you climb light. It got enough space to fit your phone, some snacks and even a small bottle of battle. All of this makes the bag a bit heavier than your typical one, but I'll take the tradeoff of not briging a backpack. The strap around the waist is also bigger to take that extra weight and the clip is sturdier. It's also usefull if you're going bouldering to your climbign gym and doesn't more a snack, water and chalk. Great bag all around!

So much bang in this bag

I am not a fan of carrying packs on multi-pitch unless absolutely necessary. You can fit SO MUCH in this little chalk bag. Sunscreen & optics in the front pouch, power bar and energy blocks in the mesh, your phone in the secret side zip AND a windbreaker for a quick change at the belay when weather comes in. It's definitely bulkier and more robust than traditional chalk bags if you are just doing single pitch climbing, but for the multi-pitch days there is NOTHING that tops the Mammut Alpine.

Snacks, keys, phone

This chalk bag is great for reducing the need to carry a backpack or awkwardly overstuffing your pockets. The chalk reservoir doesn't get compressed as bad as my other pocketed chalk bag when the pockets are full. The mesh pocket on the side is only mildly useful though. It would carry a standard sized disposable water bottle, but definitely not a Nalgene. Really it seems best suited to carrying a 12 oz canned beverage if you don't mind cracking a warm one at the summit.

Storage Galore

Great chalk bag all around. The cinch closure is really solid and the orange felt makes it easier to quickly gauge how much chalk is left. The big top zip pocket is the perfect size for my phone and the mesh bag stores a tube of liquid chalk and a skin file. The side zip is nice, though I imagine that stuff in there would bump into me while climbing. I've also yet to use the strap underneath for shoes or a rain shell, but I can't wait to give it a try!

Perfect for climbing and LNT dog responsibilities.

LNT Pro Tip! Dog owners, pick up a second one to handle your Leave No Trace dog responsibilities. The size and features on this chalk bag make it a perfect dog owner accessory. Plenty of room for a few dog dumps and a pocket for a roll of dogs wag-bags. I use this bag daily to help me conveniently pick up after my dogs while on walks around the neighborhood on the trails or at the crag. Please, Help Keep It Clean Out There.

Good product - just strap problems

Overall it’s a pretty good product. For my use case it works quite well just the strap that it comes the strap locks but the tends to loosen over time. But I really enjoy all the extra pockets and the set of bungee straps on the bottom. Overall I think that for a more advanced climber this would be a great product. It’s also really helpful as a tool pouch which is why I ended up with 2!
