Not a Chalk Sock

Based on the product description and reviews comparing it to a chalk sock, I initially thought the chalk would go inside, and the tentacles would help disperse it. However, this little guy just sits on top of your loose chalk. So, if you climb at a gym that requires a chalk sock, this might not comply with their rules. That said, I do enjoy it. It provides a nice, even coating and helps keep my loose chalk more contained.

Skeptical at first. Won me over!

Skeptical at first, but now a believer. The Chalktopus is a must-have for any climber who is focused on performance. Sure, it's plenty cute, but it really does seem to help with delivering even chalk coverage with a simple squeeze. Better than any chalk ball. Love it.

Adorable and Uber-Functional!

I am an old geezer whose grandchildren are too old and affluent to be spoiled by me anymore. So I carry @3 of these in my gym bag, to give as gifts to young kids, especially young ladies, who are really trying on the wall and would appreciate affirmation and encouragement. So as to not appear creepy, I obviously ask the parents if it's OK, or give it to THEM to give to their Kiddo. I use one too; but find it disperses a lot of chalk, annoying the staff at my gym justifyably.

GREAT - the addition you didn't know you needed

Amazing little invention and I will never go back to chalk balls or loose chalk! I felt that chalk balls didn't coat my hands properly while loose chalk was just a mess - this fixed both of those issues. I top rope and boulder multiple times per week and this little guy sits on top of the loose chalk in my bag so I can easily coat my hands without chalk spilling out. Plus it eliminates the mess of refilling the tiny chalk bags. (Note: I use it with the prAna graphic chalk bag that has a wider opening than my original Black Diamond bag and it fits perfectly.)

Cute and functional

Definitely bought it because of how cute it is, but it's staying in my bag (bags in the future) because of how well it works!! Really easy to get even chalk coverage reliably. No more chalk sock carcasses for me!

Better than a chalk sock.

Like most, I thought this would be a gimmick. Nope. Honestly it's just a better evolution of the chalk sock. No need to try and constantly keep a chalk sock filled, just toss the chalktopus in the chalk bag and pour chalk straight into the bag when needed. Won't be going back to a chalk sock.

works perfectly! and is cute too!

when I read the description of this thing I thought wow that probably works very well. don't have to re fill it, it wicks off sweat and even distributes chalk. what it does very well is when you reach into your chalk, and it's just powder, you can't really tell sometimes if you have even put your fingers in chalk because if how light and airy powdery chalk is. with this product you can feel if your coating your hands with the tactile feel of the tentacles. it rarely doesn't cost my fingers adequately. I love this thing! and recommend them all the time

Must have improvement on the chalk sock

Squeezing this little guy between sets is the best way to chalk up and stretch tendons. Keeps the chalk in my bag and my bucket, wonderful invention.
