Probably the best softshell I own at a nice price

Having worn this jacket riding my bike in the rain, spring skiing, and alpine climbing I would give it five stars. Rain simply beads up and glides off while breathing enough to ride or hike in moderate temps. I really appreciated the packability and lightweight on a recent climb in the Enchantments. I would warn people that the fit is slim but not ridiculous, it's medium would probably be a small for most brands. The hood is phenomenal, fits over a helmet but has additional stretchy material that keeps it snug on your head without a helmet. Rab has made a great jacket that doesn't cost a fortune.

Any Season

This jacket is my favorite in the quiver. Great for any season. I always keep it in my pack for summer hikes, it is very packable, lightweight and never seems to let me down when the weather decides to change course. This jacket is also very practical for winter time backcountry adventures, wearing just a base layer beneath this jacket when skinning/hiking keeps the me comfortable temperature wise but also sheds the snow when hiking in a blizzard. Lightweight, packable, waterproof and best of all stretchy for no restriction in movement. What more could you ask for

Excellent all around

This piece fit my demands exactly. I needed a jacket for everyday use, on my bike commute and wanted it to fit well. It did its job as I commuted and walked around town, and the cut was just loose enough for a layer or two underneath without giving the appearance of a sloppy fit. The construction is impressive with minimal add-ons so that is is super light but deep packets for gloves and my phone while riding.

Rab Kinetic Plus

You need this jacket! It is the perfect blend of being a breathable and super comfy soft shell and a bombproof hard shell. Wear it to ski in the morning before work and on the post work bike ride. With the slim cut, I even wear it to work when I need a waterproof jacket. I am a fan and I bet you will be too.

Best soft shell!

I have the Rab Neutrino down jacket and love it. After reading about their new Kinetic Plus, I had to try it. Here in the balmy Southeast, traditional shells dont seem to cut it. Super breathable, comfortable, lightweight and functional. Hands down, best shell I have ever tried. Looks good on due to more slim fit so size up if on the cusp of two sizes.

Excellent MTB, Climbing, and Everyday Use

At first, I wasn't sure if this jacket would fit my needs. I wanted something that could perform in a variety of environments that was breathable, packable, allowed freedom of movement, waterproof, and most importantly wouldn't break the bank. Being an avid MTB rider, multi-pitch climber, hiker, paddle boarder, disc golfer, and fly fisher (to name a few), it was hard to believe there was a jacket out there that would fulfill all my needs. To my pleasant surprise, this jacket did it all; breathable during all intensities of activity, packable enough to stuff in a multi-pitch pack without worrying about weight, stretchy enough to retain full range of motion (and then some) while climbing, and kicks butt on those early morning MTB rides or when that threatening rainstorm shows itself. After reading some reviews and researching a lot of other brands, I can honestly say I'm 100% satisfied with this purchase. My only recommendation would be to size up (I'm normally a medium, but the large fits perfect).

The Perfect Jacket for Commuting

I bought this jacket because I needed a rain jacket and the fit was so much better than the typical waterproof options - think long-sleeve tee rather than PVC poncho. I have long arms with a +4" ape-index, so finding tops with appropriate length sleeves is a real struggle for me. I have found Rab to be the only company that makes sleeves long enough - perhaps because they are a company rooted in making top quality clothing for top-tier climbers and climbers typically have long arms, I digress. I have used this jacket for a year of bike commuting and it was perfect for that - it should be advertised as such. The stretch in the fabric allows allows full free range on motion so I can fully turn my head with the hood on to look around for cars - a must have for commuting on busy streets. The jacket is long enough to cover my back when leaned over forward on the bike and 100% waterproof. Most importantly for a bike commuting jacket, the fabric breathes while repelling water, which means I stay dry of sweat when I reach my destination too. The fabric is really quite amazing. The only thing I would change would be to add a chest pocket to stash my phone/tunes, but this is not a big deal. Bottom line, this is a great jacket for anyone looking for well-fitting, waterproof, breathable protection from the elements.

Light, packable and perfect for hiking.

Hiking in the mountains just became a whole lot more fun with this jacket. I used to bring a few items for the "just in case" changes in climate. Now I bring just this jacket. It's light, buffers the wind and keeps me dry. Great hood design and the pockets are super.

fabric is delicate and doesn't withstand abrasion

I was very happy with this jacket initially - it's breathable, comfy, cool looking and waterproof. I wore it as my outer layer whilst snowboarding and on my return discovered that there were micro tears on the fabric surface, which would render it no longer waterproof. I returned it to RAB via the retailer and the retailer contacted me to say that the tears were likely due to carrying the snowboard under my arm which would have sliced the delicate fabric. No replacement/refund was therefore possible and the damage was not repairable. I've never had any similar issue with any other jacket in 18 years of snowboarding (although I've never used this type of softshell). So I'd say this may be a good jacket for cycling and running but do NOT buy it for snowboarding, climbing etc.

People don't joke when they say "Best softshell"

The Pertex material of this shell is second to none. The material is unbelievably water resistant (not waterproof. I repeat, not waterproof) considering how stretchy and comfortable this jacket is. Mobility is the best I've ever had with soft shells. That being said, it's a shell after all and thin. So if you're going out in 40 degree weather, you may need to layer accordingly. BUT I use this for trail running and biking where a wool baselayer is all I need beneath this bad boy. Another thing to consider is that it's not wind resistant. Rab is a European company to the fitting is more tapered/athletic. This fits me very well at 5'11 180 lbs. There are two zippered pockets. The zippers seem robust. I have had no trouble with them. I do wish the pockets were higher up to accommodate for waist straps. Usually, I hate velcro cuffs and tolerate them...but for some reason I really like these. They don't bother the wrists and are quite comfortable. The hood is snug. One thing I wish it had were draw strings for the waist....instead they have a light duty elastic. I have used this in overcast, drizzly, 40 degree camping trips. I use this while biking and running for a light layer of protection and insulation. I have used this to work on my car. I have used this while climbing. Overall, if you are active and live in a temperate area where it rains unpredictably then this is your jacket. Understand the function of this jacket and it will be an invaluable addition to your jacket quiver.
