I hate to be negative about Rab gear, after living in Scotland for 26 years and being fully aware of their excellent reputation. Unfortunately, the DWR on this failed spectacularly in what was fairly light-moderate rain. I was soaked through, and the same happened again, after tech-washing and restoring (I thought) said DWR. Very disappointed.
Wanted a 3L rain jacket at a sale price. I researched the Rab brand it appears they make quality products. I like the style and the features this jacket offered. Kind of wish it had a zippered chest pocket, but the side pockets are positioned a little bit higher which helps when wearing a backpack. They are large which negates placing a chest pocket in. Have not been able to try it out in wet conditions yet. This 3L feels a little bit lighter than some other brands that I’ve tried, but it’s not noisy like other 3Ls. Overall, very pleased with the purchase so far. Large size runs a little bit big for me, but makes it great for layering.
After 6 or 7 years my North Face 2.5L rain jacket began to disintegrate inside. After extensive research the Rab Arc Eco appeared to check all the boxes. 3L, YKK Aquaguard zippers, sealed seams, pit zips, adjustable hood with toggle at the rear. I like the hood to move with my head. And a sale price on top of my REI rewards. Much heavier than my old North Face.Only 4 stars because I've worn it only once in a heavy rain, stayed dry but yet to see long-term performance. I'm 5'8", 160 lbs, Large fits great, not baggy.
