Silky to the rescue!!

So far so good! I purchased the Silky Saw after breaking my Stihl hand saw recently. The Silky performed flawlessly on an overnight snowmobile trip. It made short work of a dead fir tree when I needed kindling. The Silky proved it’s worth when I left the groomed snowmobile trails and started exploring side trails which aren’t regularly maintained. I came upon an open water area in a bog which would have halted my progress without the saw. In only a few minutes I was able to cut back some alders and dead undergrowth and double the width of the trail so I could pass. The Gomboy cut effortlessly. Just be patient and let the saw do the work. Highly recommended!!

Great saw!

We frequently backpack a local forest that gets lots of overnighters. The forest has specific areas where overnight camping is supposed to be done. Because of the heavy use of these areas firewood is scarce however there are plenty of downed trees with branches too large to be broken off. I bought the saw so I could utilize branches from the downed trees and it worked as well as everyone said that it does. In a short period of time I was able to cut a pile of 4 to 6 inch thick branches that supplied us with enough wood that we left some behind for the next person. This saw will go with me every time I backpack this and other heavily traveled/used areas. Highly recommend!

Couldn't ask for better

This saw truly cuts like butter. You can cut through a (dry) four inch diameter tree in under a minute. Most of the effort is done by the sharp row of blades. You save energy on your trip by capitalizing on the efficiency the tool already provides - buy the best product to save on backpacking headaches. This saw collapses safely and easily into a manageable shape that is lightweight. The protective hard plastic case is an added bonus. I did my research on all of REI's saws, and I am very pleased with my choice for this one.

Legit

This is not your run of the mill saw. Goes through wood super super fast and it makes making logs an easy task now. Just keep in mind that this saw is a Japanese saw and you cut mainly(about 90-95%) on the pull stroke. The push stroke is just to get it back into place to set up your next pull. Look up a how to on YouTube if I'm not being clear enough. Very happy with this purchase!

Cuts like butter

I just recently purchased the silky and im love it so much! I had a corona hand saw prior to this one and there is such a huge difference between the two. It cuts on the back pull and youd think that would make cutting less time efficient but the cut is so smooth with such minimal effort that the cuttin is actually a lot faster than I thought it was going to be. Cant wait to take this out on a camping trip to gather some fire wood! Love this item.

Very good folding saw!

I had the other smaller Gomboy 130 and this one is even better. The Gomboy is good if you bend absolute portability, but if you can spare a slightly bigger saw then this is it. However both saws you have to be mindful when using, it will bind up. But once you know how to use it, it's nice and smooth.

Game Changer

I've gone through so many folding saws in the past, and it's always been one disappointment after another- usually with them breaking after a couple uses. The SILKY Gomboy was a true game changer- my friends were literally fighting over who was going to use it. It durable and makes easy work of larg pieces of hardwood. I highly recommend it.

This saw is really awesome!

I really enjoyed using this, I was straight up impressed how well it worked. I cut 4’x5” round log to short sections and it was easy and pretty quick, just awesome tool to keep in your travel kit. Much less work than using a hatchet, save you from blisters. Perfect for motorcycle adventure touring as well.

Small & efficient

I really like the small size of this saw and the fact that it comes in a storage case. I have several Silky saws at this point, all of which are excellent, but this is the smallest size I own and is especially nice for keeping in my running & skiing pack. My area had a major wind storm last week and I've been using the saw to help clear debris from my local trail systems during trail runs and Nordic ski outings. It cuts quickly & efficiently, then stores away inside my small running/skiing pack.
