Substantial battery life/effective on filtered h20
Very happy with this purchase—I almost got the pro, because water safety is never to be messed with, but I'm glad I saved the the 40-something dollars and am happy with this purchase. A few reviews mentioned a lemon for battery life, but, we filtered about 40 liters on its inaugural voyage and the batteries were still working (it adverises itself as filtering about 50 before needing a change). There was no illness (not even a sour stomach), but we did combine with Aquamira and were using on water with no debris. The water sensors need to be touching the water or the pen will turn off, which took me a minute to get the hang of while also stirring, but it's a necessary precaution!
Quick water purification solution!
This time and energy saving device worked perfectly on my 3 day hike on the AT between Fontana Dam and Clingmans Dome in the Smokies. My only complaint was the top kept popping off while stored in my back pack.
No Frills
A little heavy because it takes 4 AA batteries. However it lights up and works fine and is simple to use. Used it on a recent 3 night / 4 day hike and one load of batteries held up just fine. Why spend over $100 when this works great for under $50?
We returned this
Eh. It worked for the most part, but we had to switch out the batteries multiple times for new ones, on a 3 day trip. Thank goodness we brought extra batteries. We returned it and will buy the more expensive Steripen that hopefully last longer per battery.
light does not work
I got this steripen, put the batteries in and the light doesn't work so I do not think it works. Returning it.
