GREAT summer gloves

Great product OR. These are lightweight and cool. The little nubs on the palms help you to grip your poles and protect your hands from rubbing and/or if you fall, gives a little extra protection. The longer length on the wrist protects my watch too. Easy to operate your phone with fingertips open. I got them a little big and like the looser fit. A+ OR. Don't change a thing and keep them in stock. I had a hard time finding my size in three REI's in the spring/summer. Just be careful - they are so light that you risk loosing them or thinking they are a tissue in your pocket.

Unraveled after a few washings; not worth $25

I loved these gloves for a few months; they feel light and silky and fit snugly. However, they are hard to keep clean, and after a few times in the washing machine, the stitching is coming out and the hem is unraveling. I wear them cycling so there is nothing that rubs against the top. I turned them inside out to inspect, and the construction/sewing is terrible. Not a $25 pair of gloves.

Essential sun protection, surprising durability

I've put over 1000 miles on these gloves and they're still working great. The gloves get rinsed just about every day, either intentionally or because I don't bother removing them when collecting water. I use them with trekking poles with cork grips, if that makes a difference. The right glove is more worn than the left (see photo), perhaps because I'm right handed. I hike a lot in Arizona and sunscreen alone will not keep my hands from burning. Gloves are essential equipment for me, and I love how cool these are. I'm completely satisfied with their durability. I can buy a pair a year for less than a dermatology co-pay.

Stitching Comes Apart with Normal Use

I took these gloves on the JMT last year to protect my hands from the sun/reflection from all the snow. They worked great on the trail, however, the stitching at the bottom did start to unravel, causing the cuff to hang off. We only hiked about 90 miles of the trail and they were new, so that is definitely not the lifetime I was expecting out of these gloves. I submitted a warranty claim with Outdoor Research and we will see what they say. Like another user said, they also get very dirty very fast. But that didn't really bother me. To clean them I soak them in oxyclean and then put them on and scrub at the dirty places like i'm washing my hands. That gets all of the dirt out and has them looking good as new (minus the cuff falling off from the stitching failure).

Another solid OR product

Bought these to combat the desert sun on a NOBO PCT thru hike. Still lasting after 550 miles with no sun burn and I wear them every day for 8-12 hours. After 500 miles they started to form holes in the palms, so expect to get about 500 miles out of them. Other than that, they are comfortable and not hot whatsoever. Also works decently as another layer underneath a glove in colder weather. I didn't notice too much active cooling when wet, but dries quick. Want something to protect you from sun burn? Then you want these.

Good investment

I don't often use hiking poles but did for a 1 day, 28 mile hike that I did recently. Being fair skinned and wanting to protect my hands from blisters while using the poles, I bought these gloves. Turned out to be a great purchase! The gloves are lightweight and kept my hands cool and shaded from the sun. For the most part, they did a good job preventing blisters although one of my thumbs did get a little bit irritated even with the gloves. Overall they performed very well and when these wear out, it's likely that I will buy another pair.

Great for driving too!

Love these gloves. Use them for driving. They’re not too think and they don’t interfere with any else. I’ve had them for about a month, but I use them nearly every day and they seem to be well constructed. I purchased a large size and they fit just fine. Has small “gripping dots” on palm side. Don’t know if they are useful or not as they’re unnoticeable. Bought a second pair for the car just so I never leave home without them. Only ask is for more color variations.

Good, but…

These do what they're designed to—keep the sun off your hands. I wear them for my landcare work in sunny, warmer weather. The fabric is light and fairly durable considering how thin it is. They dry quickly if they get wet. Comfortable. Some coloration from dirt and grime never fully washes out, but, who cares. I been giving them regular, if intermittent use for about a year and a half. The sewing on the cuff trim is now unravelling (similar to what is shown in a photo in another review). The fabric appears to have considerably more life left in it, so it's disappointing that construction quality is the limiting factor. I'll try sewing things back together and see what happens. Torn between three and four stars. 3.5 seems about right, but not an option.

Keeps the sun off the backs of my hands!

I bought a pair of these about a year ago, to replace a brand that I could no longer find. These OR gloves are perfect! Comfortable and stretchy. Not too hot in summer. I machine wash and hang to dry after every hike. They last about a year with frequent use. I can still wear last year's pair, but they are starting to show wear.

Love these sun protection gloves! They are lightweight; I forget they are on. They run a little big. I usually wear large, but the medium fit nicely.
