Can’t withstand normal wear
I purchased these gloves because I wanted sun protection gloves more suitable for the summer and because I thought they were touch screen compatible. Not only are they not touch screen compatible, but after only a month of ownership wearing them about once a week, they have started to fall apart as seen in the photo. These are strictly driving gloves, so they aren’t worn for anything rigorous, yet they’re falling apart. They're also getting dark mainly around the fingertips and I’m not sure why because I don’t put the gloves on immediately after applying lotion or sunscreen or anything similar. I’m disappointed and I would not recommend these gloves.
g-a-r-b-a-g-e
Let’s set the record straight. These might be the worst gloves I’ve ever bought. Used them for 6 hours in direct Sun on a 14er in colorado. Thought they were good… then again that was 6 hours of use. Packed them for a climb on Mt Baker and Mt Rainier… sure I used them for 8 days in total (part was a class). By day 6 the seams ripped at the finger tips. They were USELESS. Now, maybe they are meant to be disposable and used once but the reality is these things should have lasted more than 40 hours of total use. Don’t waste your money. They are absolute junk despite previously being impressed until they became a bikini for my hands.
Flimsy
I have gone through several pairs of the older (non-touchscreen version) of these gloves, and each pair has worn out more quickly than the last. The latest pair has gone through the thumb and most of the fingers in about 3 days of hiking with poles. Yes, that causes some abrasion. But I expect a pair of gloves meant for hiking to be up for that. Other brands are.
Used to be fabulous
My son and I each had excellent pairs of these gloves from a few years ago. The new design is an exercise in decontenting and deprecated workmanship. The dark suede inside on grip surface of the fingers is so narrow that the tricot fabric is called on to serve as a grip surface (which it's not designed for). The index and middle fingers on multiple copies I tried (including the ones I just bought) twist around in use so that the suede is on the side of the finger. Supremely disappointing since these used to be the gold standard for sun gloves for hiking with hiking poles.
Not durable.
What a disappointment! I bought your ActiveIce Chroma Full Sun Gloves at REI as sun protection for my 90 minute walks four times a week. I don't use them for anything other than covering my hands; in other words, I don't use them for bike riding, or gripping tools or anything else. The only stress on them is from putting them on, adjusting them or taking them off... and yet, they are breaking apart after after only 5 months' use. (The darker, perforated material on the palm side of both gloves is disintegrating.) For the price, I would expect much better durability. Moreover, these gloves are supposed to work with touchscreens, but in my experience, they don't do so very well. About half the time, I have to swipe/tap repeatedly with my Apple watch. To tap menus and etc on my phone, I sometimes have to remove the gloves, and often have to make repeated attempts. I have washed these gloves several times by hand or in a mesh bag in the washer, and always air dried them. These gloves did not meet my expectations.
Thin fabric in palm area.
After less than three weeks using for driving car the palm of right glove was shredded.
A lesson in UPF after a full day in high alpine on glaciers.
If used these on hikes where there is no where to hide from the sun. My best lesson was a nine hour day spent on the Emmons Glacier in full unrelenting sun. The gloves did a great job keeping my hands protected but the touchscreen fingertips took time time to adapt to. They simply are not conductive enough, forcing one to really use intentional slow presses on a touchscreen. The fabric is thin which is fantastic for making the glove breathable but it show signs of wear easily. The UPF rating is 50+ and I learned exactly what that translates to with full sun at 11,000'. I got a really cool tan line on the back of my hands!
Nice gloves.
I like the fit and functionality of these gloves. They work well in summer in hot humid climates like where I live. However the suede-like palm and finger material is weak and developed holes after only a few uses. I replaced them with new ones and the touch screen pads on the finger tips do not work for touch screens but seem to be heavier duty than the original material so maybe they will last longer.
My new favorite accessory
I got these for sun protection as per the purpose of the glove. I wear them all the time hiking now. I love them. The palms are perforated so as you swing your arms, a breeze comes in and dissipates the sweat while cooling your hands. My hands always get sweaty and these gloves wick the sweat away really well, no slimy hands at the end of the hike. They also help with swollen fingers and protect from abrasions along the trail. Highly recommend. I wear a size 7 in surgical gloves and the mediums fit perfectly, with a bit of a wiggle to get on. The large would've given me more space. Would like some better colors...true neon green or other bright colors

comfortable and protective
I have used these gloves mostly for hiking and long drives. My hands are sensitive and get swollen when in the sun for prolonged periods of time. These gloves have saved my hands on multiple trips. They are breathable and were great for long hikes in the desert sun. The finger pads wore down a little faster than I would have liked, but perhaps that is to be expected.
