Works great for my pug!
After almost a full year of daily use, I can honestly say that this is the best dog harness I've ever owned. My pug has grown in the last year and it's super easy to make adjustments, but there doesn't seem to be any slippage in the adjusters (ie, they stay where you put them). The fabric is showing a tiny bit of wear, but definitely less than I would have thought I'd be seeing after a year of use. Pros: -Easy to put on/take off -The placement of the parachute buckles ensures that there's no way to accidentally pinch any skin/fur while snapping them shut -fabric seems to protect from chafing and is holding up very well Cons: -Nothing that I can think of!

Worst harness ever
My dog has had two of these harnesses and they both broke in the same place--on the left front strap. One harness lasted 4 months and the other less than one month. It is warrantied, but very difficult to make a warranty claim.

My dog loved this for our hikes!

Really easy to put on, light weight, and not to hot for the pup. He loves this thing and gets excited when we go on hikes. I definitely recommend this for all your trail hikes.

Rugged and Fits a Dachshund!

Picked up one of these for my 6 month old Dachshund puppy. REI doesn't sell the XXS size, but I was able to have an associate let me try it on outside to make sure the XS would fit. It's got a 4-way adjustment, which is great for a long, tubular shaped dog! It's nice and rugged for hiking, but I use it with him everywhere now. It doesn't put pressure on his neck, which is really important for his breed. Only drawback is that he has gotten out of it a couple of times, but I suspect that will change as he gets bigger.

Bye Bye Chafing

Despite hours and hours of training, my Husky-mix pup still enjoys to lead the pack at times and attempt to catch squirrels, birds, you name it. The front-clip harnesses really help with pulling on walks, but the previous harness I bought her caused bad chafing and raw spots under her armpits. Since purchasing this harness, there's been no new chafing and the raw spots are now completely healed. Once she got used to putting it on and taking it off over her head, it's been smooth... uh... walking with this harness. Pros: secure feeling, quality construction, ample padding, front and back lead clip loop, NO CHAFING! Cons: adjusting the straps to the right size takes a bit of finagling, the straps come loose and need to be adjusted every so often, there is no all-black color option (the gray works for us, but it would be even sleeker in black) Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase, and I believe my pup shares that sentiment. Thanks, REI and Ruffwear!

Best Harness Ever

So easy to use.. just slip over the head and click around the chest. No more confusing straps that are a pain to get on. Seems super durable and Oliver looks great in it!!

My mutt knows it’s go time

James loves his Front Range harness, as soon as I put it on him, he knows we’re off for adventure. The adjustment options makes it easy to get a comfortable fit, which was a problem with previous harnesses. James is a Staffordshire x chihuahua and weighs 30 lbs, and wears a size M.

Sturdy and easy on, easy off

Our pup usually wears a front-clip harness, but we needed something else while he healed from a chafing. Not only was the Ruffwear sturdier than most of the other harnesses we looked at, but it also allowed lots of limb movement. The front loop is definitely not for attaching a leash (unless your dog doesn't pull at all); it looks like it would rip out fairly easily. The back loop is much much sturdier. When walking tiny shelter dogs, I've had to deal with a variety of harnesses, and I appreciate how easy the Ruffwear is to put on and off; no slipping buckles through loops, or threading webbing around tummies. Slip on and clip, no muss, no fuss. I plan to use the Ruffwear as a car harness once I get a seatbelt attachment.

Ruffwear Harness...Gentle on the Neck!

I love this harness...as does my 14-year-old Brittany! Why did I wait so long!! I can finally "walk" him on a leash and we both enjoy it and he's not Choking!!! Made extremely well. Very pleased all the way around!!

Nice harness for non-extreme pullers

I got this for my alaskan husky when we go on hikes, and also to keep him in the car when the windows are down. The harness is nice, and easier to put on than other ruffwear ones we've tried. the two buckles on the back make it a 'snap' to put on. He's very fussy and doesn't like getting dressed yet, but this cuts down on the hastle. as with other ruffwear harnesses, and harnesses in general we've tried, the front has nylon tensioners/keepers that do slide along the nylon when he pulls. would give 5 stars if the tensioners were metal and didn't slip. the front attachment is just a loop, nice to attach a bell or something if you don't want to attach your leash there. for a dog that still pulls, attaching the leash to the front causes the tensioners to loosen up over time.

Best harness for my large breed dog!

I own an 85 pound Akita and have been searching for the perfect harness for some time. I love this brand and was hopeful that this would be the harness for him. It has been a game changer. No pulling and I use the top loop vs. chest. It works great and is perfect for our active lifestyle. I purchased a size L/XL.
