Decent ANT+ GPS, but you get what you pay for

Lezyne current makes the cheapest ANT+ compatible headsets (this Super GPS along with the Super Micro GPS). I recent got a power meter, and was looking for a head unit to go along with it. Although it does some basic functions just fine, I cannot recommend this unit unless some advertised functions are fully worked out. Let's start with the good: 1. ANT+ connectivity works great. Works with my power meter without a hitch (power2max). 2. Display of 2 data parameters has a good size. I first tested out the Super Micro GPS, and that was a bit small. The Super GPS has a good size for two data parameters. Four data parameters is a tad on the small side. 3. GPS connectivity is good. Connects within a minute near my house without tall buildings. Takes around two minutes to connect with higher (5 floors+) buildings in the vicinity. 4. The connector seems pretty secure. I know one of the other reviewers seems to have issues with the rubber band securing the unit, but after ~700 miles, I don't have any complaints. It clips in and out easily. 5. Unit has withstood the water that it has come in with. However, I'm located in SoCal, so I can't say how truly durable this is when exposed to water. I've ridden it through sprinklers and sweat, and unit is fine. 6. Battery life is good. I haven't gone as far as 15 hours in a ride, but after a 10 hour day, I had just a tad over 40% remaining. The bad: 1. Phone support is atrocious. In all honesty, if it supported my phone, I would probably given it 4 stars and a recommend. However, this unit does not support HTC or Motorola phones (at least that's what I've tested, and I suspect many more). To get the device to pair to the phone in itself is not straightforward. Followed the directions on their website, and managed to get it to pair and show the battery percentage. However, does not do any type of route guidance, and texts may or may not appear. I contacted the company, and they said tough, we do not support your phone. If you look on their website, their list of supported phones is disappointingly small. In the age of where bluetooth is supposed to be somewhat of a universal standard, this is unacceptable, and completely removes some advertised functions of the unit (route guidance, text and call alerts, strava segments, live tracking). 2. Bluetooth sync is slow. Very slot. Takes 2-5 minutes to sync one ride to phone. And this was for short 20-30 mile rides. Not sure if this has something to do with bluetooth or the device design, but this is very frustrating. Ended up just connecting the unit to my computer directly. 3. Storage size is small. Given how cheap memory is now these days, having the ability to store only ~8MB (I think it's around this size, I don't recall exactly) is disapointing. 4. Temperature sensor is off. I want to assume it's correct most of the time, but when I see 90+ temperatures by 7 in the morning, and I KNOW that it hasn't reached that yet, I cannot trust the temperature readings. 5. Cannot get rid of certain pages. I originally set it to automatically scan through the data pages, but sometimes it would show the default page (The one with time, devices connected, and battery percentage) as well as the breadcrumb trail. Although annoying, not egregious. 6. Another minor annoyance is that the unit beeps every time it is turned on. Perhaps it is just me, but I would have liked a way to turn it off. In summary, this is good as a basic unit that has ANT+ connectivity. If that's all you're looking for, great, but at this price point, I don't think the justification is there, even for a basic unit. I think I would have accepted that in the $100 price range with this big of a display. I don't mind the black and white display, but to have incompatibility issues seems like poor programming and design, and a waste of bluetooth connectivity. I'm not sure when it will be compatible with all or most phones, but until then, I cannot recommend this unit in good faith as it lacks those advertised features. Wahoo and Garmin make head units that are the next cheapest, and although they are considerably more expensive ($250 for Wahoo Elemnt Bolt, $300 for Garmin Edge 520), I think that their units are much more polished than Lezyne's units. This is really disappointing, as I was hoping for a cheap, basic GPS headunit that was set to compete with some of the bigger companies, but Lezyne does not seem to be able to fit that role. I can't justify supporting a company that failes to deliver on everything it advertises.

Super Reliable and More

I've been a cyclist for a while but just now getting into the GPS world. I love the Lezyne GPS. The battery life is insane, which is great for someone like me who is constantly on-the-go and doesn't have a lot of time to charge devices. The phone app that accompanies the GPS is extremely user-friendly and uploading rides to Strava is quick and easy. The GPS can display text messages, phone call etc. but I can just as easily turn off the functionality if I don't want it during the ride. The GPS has several different screen set ups depending on what you're looking to get out of your ride. Very happy with this product. Absolutely no complaints.

Battery Life Rocks

I've never a had a GPS with such long battery life, I know it seems like a small thing to care about, but it really does make life easier not having to charge it after every ride. Display is easy to read. Website is easy to use. Works well with Strava. Pairs up to my Stages power meter and tells me battery percentage. Checks all of my boxes. I've been super happy with it so far. They've updated it a few times since I've bought it and every time it has gotten a little easier or better to use. Overall pretty stoked. I do wish they had compatibility with K-Edge mounts because their mounts are a little bulky.

Beats Garmin, Hands Down

I got this unit last Christmas after going back and forth between Lezyne and Garmin. I am so glad I went with Lezyne! I've never had any of the random shut downs, freezes, or other Garmin gremlins. The Lezyne just works. Oh, and the battery life on this thing is insane! I commute daily, have done a couple metric centuries, and regularly ride 30-50 miles with the local club, and have not needed to charge in about 6 months... and it still has 45% battery left! Syncing with Strava is so easy a caveman could do it, too. The only con I've run into is that when the firmware updated, it wiped out my personalized pages and the only way to set them up is on the unit itself. Not a huge deal, but definitely took some time.

it works but....

The super GPS works great, for the price it is a deal. Except you can only use the USB cable that came with it. Other cables look the same but do not work. You can select how many pages to view, each with different information and on each page you can select the number of fields. It also has a scroll function which throws in two extra pages which in my opinion makes the scroll function useless in my opinion. I bought a cadence transmitter and had a hard time getting the GPS to read it. When it did it took a long time to read accurately.

Easy to use and accurate

I really like this device though I have not fully tested its capability. I like the handlebar mount. They repurpose o-rings as elastic bands that wrap around whatever part of the handlebar you choose to use. 2 different o-ring diameters are supplied to handle a pretty wide range of tube diameters. The mounting is quite rigid and has not had any motion problems in a total of 6 hours road riding, including some unintended potholes. I remove it after each ride, because they are pretty quick to remount. Paired on first try with my TICRx HR monitor. Reliable and solid connection through a 3 hour ride. No problem seeing instantaneous and average heart rate for the whole ride. I bought this for the logging and find it easy to use. I download the log from each ride and display it on the Lezyne gpsroot page. The HR chest strap is currently my only external sensor, but the log includes, altitude, speed, temperature, heartrate every 3 or 4 seconds. I suspect the GPS co-ordinates on the google map display have similar resolution, but have not looked carefully. I have crudely checked both altitude and ride distance and they seem excellent. Within about 5 feet on altitude (checking a topo map) in the 50-265 foot range and on the order of 1 percent on distance (I have not done a careful tire rollout on my bike computer). I do not have a Strava account, but the Lezyne gpsroot display of my data has been fine for my basic needs. You can interactively view all the sensor data plotted in different colors simultaneously or one at a time. The gps route info is available in basic form where you can move on a time-elevation plot and see the gps location. I am not currently a Strava user, so I leave review of its use with that site to others. So far this is a great device at a far cheaper price than competitors that I considered. I will write a more detailed review when I have tried the turn-by-turn and text display capability.

Feature Rich & Price Friendly

I bought this 4 months ago and it has been extremely easy to use, customize, and provides more features than other devices in the same price range. Some key points I've enjoyed: Navigation: I'll admit, at first I was a bit overwhelmed when I realized I was supposed to use my computer, my phone, AND the device to get it to work. That seemed like a lot of steps and harder than just uploading from a computer. However, once I did my first route, my opinion changed drastically. Before I went to work one morning, I quickly created a lunch ride route on my computer. I did not have to unpack the device from my bag to load it on there & did not have to plug in my iPhone to anything, the route was automatically on my iPhone Ally 2 App. So easy! When lunch came, I pull out my iPhone, picked my route in the App, and like magic it was on my Super. No cords required & no hassle. It worked like a charm and has continued to do so since! Integration to Strava: It automatically uploads once I put my ride on the cloud. SO easy & instant info on results. Customization: All my screens are customized to have what is important to me on the main screen. Negatives? No. Some user error has happened. I didn't update the Super when I first pulled it out of the box. It didn't work perfect right away, but once I figured out there is a firmware update, I loaded it on there and it works like a champ. Overall, love this device & will probably purchase the watch so I can have the same top quality product for my running & hiking.

Lezyne Does It Right

The Lezyne Enhanced Super GPS is a great cycling computer. It dots all of the T's and crosses the I's for me. I connects flawlessly to my iPhone and alerts me about incoming messages and phone calls, my heart rate monitor and power meter without issue. On the few occasions that I have encountered a problem, the customer service person, Adam, has gotten back to me quickly with a solution. I Highly recommend this device !

Love it

Simple, affordable and does everything a cycling specific GPS computer should do... and than some. I particularly love the route building feature -- great for traveling and exploring new areas. And so far pretty reliable (using with a Motorola), but occasionally have to re-pair with the device before riding.
