Absolute perfect for your K-2nd grader!
I have this backpack for my Kindergartener, 1st grader and even my petite 4th grader has one because it's the absolute perfect size! Most backpacks are huge and bulky. This backpack is very comfortable and has a sleek design that fits perfectly on my children's back!
Love this bag!
My daughter who was entering 1st grade decided that she wanted a "grown up" backpack. It is the perfect size for her, and carries all that she needs for school. Would definitely recommend.
Best youth backpack available!
My 4 year daughter loves this pack! It fits perfectly and durable enough to last years. It is also very lightweight without sacrificing comfort under heavy loads.
Love this for my nephew buying one for my god daughter
Very comfortable my nephew loves this bookbag he's in the 1st grade and it's the perfect size for him and he feels like a big boy when he wears it
Love it !!!
Got this for my daughter it's her first north face book bag and I have to say I love it and fits her notebooks comfortably.
Perfect for YOUNG children
I bought this backpack for my son when he entered Kindergarten. It held up the whole year, and I was happy that I wouldn't have to buy him a new one when he started 1st grade. The quality of the bag is amazing, however, it is almost too small for his 1st grade binder this year, which is 1 and 1/2". The depth is fine, but the width is the problem. I'm sure the bag will hold up the rest of the year, and next year I will buy the adult version of the Recon Squash...and hand the Youth size down to my youngest who will be entering Kindergarten next year.
Looks Great, Performs Poorly
I bought this backpack as a small(er) option for my son who was entering Kindergarten. I wanted to buy a quality backpack that could potentially last a few years. My experience with North Face backpacks has been positive and I have had my Jester backpack for over 6 years. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about this backpack. Although super comfortable (per my son) and visually appealing (Lightening bolt pattern) the side pockets were demolished within weeks of use. This is a kindergartner. I know kids can be heavy on clothes but a backpack? It appears that North Face did not think to reinforce the bottom of these side pockets leaving no protection between the ground or whatever surface the bag rests on and what is inside the pockets.
Great Bag
This child-sized backpack caught my eye as the perfect on-the-go bag. It's small enough to not be cumbersome or bulky, but large enough for everyday needs such as a wallet, a Nalgene, a notebook, etc. My favorite feature is that the back and strap padding is NOT the plush mesh padding that is prevalent on most backpacks now. That mesh material pills all my shirts. The smooth padding on the Recon Squash is PERFECT. Note that the mesh side pockets are not large enough for even a 32 oz. Nalgene, but they are perfect for keys and my glasses case.
Perfect school/travel backpack for kids!
Bought two of the Youth Recon Squash Backpacks in the lightning bolt pattern for my 5yo twin boys, who started kindergarten this year. I have my own North Face pack that I always use for our travel/hikes/etc., so I trust the quality to hold up over time/constant use. I wanted bags that would be big enough to fit folders, notebooks, and a lunch box, but not be too bulky or heavy - this pack is perfect. The boys love the pattern, have no problem getting the straps on and off, and can easily open all of the pockets.
Loooovvveee this backpack for my son!
I bought this backpack for my 4 year old son. He will be starting pre-k in 6 days. I was looking for a comfortable and durable backpack and I think I found it. I was a little apprehensive that it might be big on him but it was the perfect size. Ever since my mom bought me my first North Face backpack at the start of high school, it's been with me through college and all my travels after, I had to buy one for my son. So I'm eager to see my little one use his for his time in school and travels.
