I just returned from 3 weeks in Peru, hiking for 7 days on the Inca Trail and over the pass of Salkantay mountain. I wore my Kuhl hiking pants RN#108846 (purchased at REI) every single day - they fell with me on the rocky downslope, scrabbled with me over a 17000 foot mountain pass, had food (and worse) dropped on them and stayed in place every step of the way. After hiking, we had our clothing laundered and I then wore them exploring Cuzco, Arequipa and Lima because they stayed nice fitting (no bagging) and are so comfortable! I've decided they are my MVP - most valuable pants!!! Thanks for making practical and good looking clothing!
I bought this for a light weight pant for the summer. I loved the look and the fit, but within hours of putting them on I noticed a bunch of small "pills." on closer inspection I realized the fabric was getting small pulls in it as if I had attached velcro and pulled it off fast. I had done nothing out of the ordinary--didn't even make it outside. I am returning them because I don't think they will be able to handle daily activities. So sad...loved the fit and the color.
If you happen to be a curvaceous lady look for hiking pants - you know that most of them look terrible once you put them on. I've been hunting for a year for a pair of hiking pants that look good and are functional - and I finally found them. They are stretchy like your favorite comfortable leggings, but have enough features (pockets, seams, etc.) to look like real pants and effectively hide your thunder. I almost always hike in leggings because I've never had comfortable pants - I'm so relieved to find these! Even in the larger sizes (I'm a 14) they do the trick and look good at the same time.
Great pants for the weekend and outdoors. As comfortable as yoga pants but great tech fabric that performs for outdoor fun: sheds dirt, dries quick, resists snagging. Zip front pockets make for sleek and flattering profile. These are warm weather pants, so size up if you want to wear a base layer and extend them into cooler weather. I am 5'3" (150-160) and the 12R is a touch long, but perfect otherwise. At the lower end of my weight I can fit a base layer under it, but it's not flattering with an extra layer if I'm closer to 160. These pants are still new, so I can't speak to durability yet, but so far I am loving them!
I have two pairs of Strattus pants and two pair of the 5" Strattus shorts. I love these pants. They are very forgiving in the rear area (for those women with a little more to love) but have elastic and a drawstring at the waist for those who need a little adjustment in either direction. They are almost mesh like so they are super cool, but they are not going to wear like iron like some of the less breathable and less stretchy pants might. It is a trade off. I have trouble finding a comfortable fit in the other pants. I feel like I can't really move. These pants would allow be to hike just about anywhere and would not inhibit a steep climb if needed.
I was excited to buy these pants because they are so lightweight and comfortable. They fit perfectly. The one big problem is the snags and pills in the fabric after just one wearing, particularly at the knees. It's hard to believe they are suggested for hiking. I cannot recommend them.
I am the pickiest person imaginable when looking for hiking pants. I have hips, a butt, and a smaller waist so a lot of the pants on the market don't work for my body type. These are a different story. The second I put them on, I fell in love. The back comes up high enough that I can bend over without worrying about having plumbers crack. They're stretchy enough that I can easily climb over obstacles. They're so soft that I forget I have pants on. They're super functional and somehow also look REALLY cute on. I'm currently buying them in every color.
Wore them hiking in Yosemite and they were very comfy :-)
I have lots of Kuhl clothes. These pants were so wonderful when I brought them home that I went back and got another pair for my trip. They packed and word wonderfully! However, I just washed with cold water and dried on low as directed, and now they are too small! They fit like tights now! I am so upset! They fit perfectly before. These are size 4 and this is the size I always buy from Kuhl. For reference, I am 5'5" and weigh 112. I don't know whether it's worth trying a size 6, or just give up on these pants!
I bought these pants after months of contemplating whether I needed them and WOW am I happy I finally did. Although the full price is pretty steep, I can say these pants are worth the extra penny! So comfortable and breathable it’s insane - I have worn them hiking, to work, and as business blacks. These things have to be made by witches because they’re MAGIC. I have hips and a butt and they fit! So nice to have the option to cinch the ankle in, too. I constantly receive compliments and am adding 2 more to my collection now that they’re on sale for a grand total of three pairs. And I’d buy more
