Poor Quality
Bought this for my myself. It broke on the first use. Cap on water bottle broke. I bought the same one in men's for my dad and the same thing happened the first time he used his.
Well engineered pack is worth the money.
I needed to switch from a shoulder hydration system to a waist pack after surgery and was sure it would be less comfortable. I was wrong. The frame of this pack keeps sufficient air flow so that my back is not wringing wet, and it is well balanced and hardly noticible at full stride. The bottles are easy to reach without removing or twisting the pack. The generous zippered compartments allow me to carry whatever I want, including an extra water bottle on a really hot day.
The strap around the waist is too narrow
I used this pack for the first time. Unfortunately the waist belt on the pack is half the width of any of my other waist packs including my single water bottle waist packs. When the pack is loaded the belt cuts into your abdomen making it very uncomfortable. I like other aspects of the pack so I may try to cut off the belt the pack comes with and put on a 2 inch waist belt which is standard on waist packs.
Just the right size for day hikes
I got this for my wife, and she loves it. She looked at the Mountainsmith that I have but thought it was too much pack for what she wants. The Osprey holds an extra layer plus a rain jacket plus a few nibbles, plus two water bottles. And it's comfortable. Perfect.
nice pack but...
I like the construction. The pack is good for short hikes. I probably won't use it much as I have a small body frame and I cannot adjust this pack enough to prevent my arms from brushing against the water bottles. Very annoying to bare arms. Might be ok in autumn when wearing layers.
Needs more straps to wear comfortably
Loaded this lumbar pack up with 7.5 lbs of stuff and proceeded to walk around town. Try as I might there was simply no way to adjust the load or straps to prevent a 3” gap between the pack and my back. When I got home I compared this pack to the other brand I’ve have for more than 20 years. This one is lighter but it doesn’t have some straps which are key for comfortable wear. This one is going back to rei and I am getting another one just like the one I bought 20+ years ago.
Holds plenty
Easily holds a light jacket, gloves, snacks, phone, small flashlight and first aid kit with room to spare. Holds a lot without feeling large. My only dislike is that the belt strap is a little narrow. I prefer something a little wider because it looks more flattering.
Best fanny pack ever!
I have hiked with this fanny pack several times and love the way it fits. The hydration bottles do not stick out so far that they interfere with my arms. The pack is large enough for storing the essentials (food, first aid, rain jacket). Total water capacity is OK, but need more for longer hikes.
Makes hiking much easier
What a great purchase. Great for hiking. I take my camera and a couple lenses along and this waistpack was perfect. The opening in the middle is large enough to hold a 70mm and a 50mm. Water bottles, side pockets for snacks or other things you need. It was worth the money
I returned it
There are some nice things about it. Like the loops that secure the bottles in place and keep them from falling out. However, when it comes to filling the bottles, they don't have a flat bottom to stand up on a counter.
