Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Rain Jacket Ever This is hands down the best rain jacket I've every owned. It's light and packs super small, but is amazing against the wind and rain. Unlike a lot of gore-tex rain jackets, the Beta SL is really breathable. The jacket is an investment, however, between Arcteryx quality and outstanding performance, you'll have it for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best rain jacket out there! This jacket is the best rain jacket out there! More expensive than other brands but well worth the money. I am extremely satisfied with this product and have used it several times already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect balance: fit, weight, features I bought this to replace a 10 year old Theta AR. Pros: - articulated elbows enable full range of motion even when wearing a pack - light (but not ultralight), packable - pit zips enable ventilation - Arc'teryx warranty and craftsmanship Cons: - price... but you get what you pay for - single cinch cord hood adjustment works fine, but I suppose that I was used to having the 2 cords on my Theta.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing shell Great shell, light weight, breathable, still pretty durable even for the SL Hybrid. About as breathable as a hard shell can get, love the high pockets to make getting in with a harness easier, and great vent zips

what is the difference between the arcteryx beta SL hybrid and the beta LT. The later is much more expensive, about the same weight. I will use this jacket around town but also will use it for fairly rugged backpacking. Which would be better?

Asked by: hank
The Beta SL Hybrid Jacket uses two types of Gore-Tex fabrics to maximize performance and minimize weight. Gore-Tex Paclite is used in the body while Gore-Tex C-Knit is used in the hood and arms. The Beta LT uses Gore-Tex Pro which is the most breathable waterproof membrane in the Gore-Tex line up.
